Charging a car battery is not only important, but also useful. Like most other devices, a battery can lose its properties, namely, lose its charge. This is due not only to its decommissioning and long service life, but also to the careless attitude of the drivers themselves. After all, it often happens that they forgot to turn off the headlights or close the door to the end; subzero temperatures also affect the quality of the charge.
The car battery must be charged properly. Firstly, the room in which this work will take place should be well ventilated. The fact is that during charging an explosive mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is released. Secondly, it is necessary to check the electrolyte, its level should reach a certain mark on the battery itself. If there is none, then unscrew the lids and see how covered the plates are. The liquid should rise 10-15 cm above them. The
battery that is being serviced also requires opening the filler holes by unscrewing the covers from them, but do not remove them. They should be on top of the hole so that acid does not spill out, but at the same time the gases freely come out. The next step is to clean the vents. It is also worth noting that the car battery should be charged when the surface of the device is cleaned. These are the main conditions.
For this process, use a car
battery charger . There are two types of such devices - automatic and manual. The first is the charger for the car battery, which itself monitors the current and controls it, and also performs an automatic shutdown. A manual device requires special attention, as it needs constant monitoring. Both those and others can realize either
direct current or voltage at the output. With both methods, the car battery is fully charged. All charging devices are powered by 220 V.
Now consider in more detail charging at constant current and at constant voltage. If a lead-antimony battery is charged, the power should not exceed one tenth of the capacity of the device itself. If a battery with calcium and silver alloying is used, then an increased initial current power is allowed, but the current should be reduced in subsequent stages.
There are also memory devices that cannot set the required current supply level. In this case, use a lower value, but at the same time increase the charging time itself. This method is even more useful for the battery.
Constant voltage for charging is most often used for sealed batteries that are not fully serviced. The voltage does not change throughout the charging time, and the current decreases due to the occurrence of resistance inside the battery itself.
With any charge method, you must always carefully monitor the process.
