We choose speakers for a laptop or how inexpensively to improve the acoustics of a laptop?

The laptop in recent years has significantly strengthened its position in the market, largely “moving” its older brother - a stationary PC. But, despite a number of advantages, including mobility, compactness and the ability to work on battery power, laptops have a number of disadvantages. The mediocre, and very often completely useless sound refers to them.

Undoubtedly, some laptop manufacturers have solved this problem thanks to the fairly powerful and high-quality built-in speakers in devices specifically designed for playing music. For example, the ASUS N75s laptop or the HP Envy 14 laptop can compete with some “boomboxes” in sound quality. But for the most part, in order to achieve good sound from a laptop, it is advisable to attach portable speakers to it, thereby amplifying the sound at least several times. How to choose speakers for a laptop will be discussed in this article.

Speakers for a laptop can be conditionally divided into two categories - portable speakers, which you can easily take with you to nature or on a short trip with your laptop, and stationary speakers, most of which are bulky and not as compact and mobile as representatives of the first category . On the shelves of modern stores you can find other options, for example, “monitor speakers” - powerful speakers that are built directly into the monitor body. But this option is more suitable for a stationary computer, rather than a laptop.

When it comes to such a thing as laptop speakers, most often we mean mobile portable speakers. By sound, they can exceed the built-in acoustics of a laptop by several times, but they won’t take up much space and can easily fit in a laptop bag. In demand in the market are inexpensive compact audio systems 2.0, the price of which does not exceed ten to fifteen dollars. One of the leaders of manufacturing companies in this segment can safely be called "Defender". The SPK-220 and SPK-530 columns produced by this company were created specifically for laptops and have proved themselves very well, having received numerous positive feedback from users. These models are equipped with good speakers (their total power is 4 W) and are powered by a USB connector, which allows you not to think about which outlet to connect them to or how many batteries to take with you on a trip. Both speakers have volume controls, and the SPK-220 is also equipped with a headphone jack.

The main competitors for Defender speakers can be considered laptop speakers from Microlab, especially the MD-520, which is slightly larger in size than its competitors. The “five hundred and twentieth" model also has a USB connector. It has volume control, but there is no headphone jack.

Logitech, a company known for producing various accessories and peripherals for computers, went further than its competitors and released laptop speakers for more than fifty dollars. The model in question is called “Laptop Speaker Z205”. In addition to better sound quality and sophisticated design, this option differs from its competitors in that it can be attached directly to the laptop screen, while saving space on your desktop. It is controlled by the Z205 using the buttons on the top panel, and is powered in the same way as the models described above - via USB. To ensure that the smooth surface of the speakers is not accidentally scratched during transportation, the manufacturer decided to equip it with a stylish soft case.

In addition to the options described above, there are still quite a lot of offers, but the lion's share of the market at the moment is left for these models. Also, before choosing speakers for a laptop, it should be understood that only a stationary audio system can provide full-fledged sound.
