VAZ 21014 - ninth shaft: reincarnation

The Volga Automobile Plant began producing front-wheel drive cars of the Samara series many years ago - long before the onset of the new century.

These machines went beyond the usual VAZ β€œclassics”, for their time they were stylish, dynamic and even a little aggressive. Many years passed, but simply did not turn out to be a worthy replacement for the continuation of the development of this direction. All this led to the fact that AvtoVAZ designers decided not to invent the fifth wheel, but to do a deep restyling of the once popular models. Not the most original solution, but it turned out to be not so bad - the VAZ 21014 and other modifications of the three- and five-door hatchback were born.

The serial production of the new-generation Sputniks began in 2003, and it will last, according to the plans of the car factory, until the end of 2013. The new hatchback was shown to the public two years earlier, and the restyled version aroused considerable interest. The dashboard, made in the "European" style, an adjustable steering column, electric windows, a heater of a new design and a more modern design - all this "tuning" VAZ 21014 favorably distinguished the new model from its ancestors.

The changes affected the engine. Now a new eight-valve 1.5-liter power unit with a distributed fuel injection system is being installed on VAZ 21014. If we talk about the exterior, then in general it resembles the features of the previous "nine", a spoiler, both bumpers and lighting fixtures suffered dramatic changes. To improve vehicle safety, ABS and safety glazing were added to the technical equipment.

Since 2007, the era of a new eight-valve engine (1.6 l) begins, which is installed on the VAZ 21014. Tuning a similar positive effect on the car - firstly, this engine meets Euro-3 environmental standards, and secondly, the catalyst is now located near the motor, and not under the bottom, the aluminum receiver is replaced by a plastic one. In the cabin, the changes affected the torpedoes - it was made of more rigid material, a simple trip computer was added .

In 2008, on the doors of the VAZ 21014, wide moldings were replaced by narrow ones, a year later an engine was installed, which the car is equipped with to this day - a 16-valve injection engine (1.6 l, 89 hp). Complicated changes and some other nodes, in particular, was installed a new 5-speed transmission, ventilated front discs and a new reinforced grip. As a result, we can talk about higher dynamics of acceleration, reduced fuel consumption, as well as slightly reduced clearance, which allows you to confidently enter into a bend. The VAZ 21014 modification is equipped with 14-inch wheels, with the rear seat back folded down it becomes possible to transport long loads.

In general, this version of "Samara" is a perfectly acceptable option for everyday use. High-quality suspension and a good engine give good dynamics and confidence when overtaking. The interior of the car can hardly be called modern, but the cabin is quite comfortable, this also applies to long-distance trips.
