Applied undergraduate - what is this form of higher education?

Applied baccalaureate is a definite program of educational activity, as a result of which a student must get all the necessary knowledge and skills in order to go to work immediately after the institute. This direction in preparing students appeared relatively recently, in 2010, but disputes over its need have not subsided so far. Let us consider that this is an applied baccalaureate, and whether it is a complete higher education.

Undergraduate

Many universities in our country have long switched to a two-tier education system. It consists in the fact that a student, having studied for 4 years at the university, receives a bachelor’s diploma and can go with him either to work or to a magistracy, which lasts two years. Studying under the master's programs, the student expands his knowledge in the chosen field and subsequently has a chance to enter graduate school and engage in scientific activities.

Graduate - Bachelor

The undergraduate program lasts four years. Admission occurs on the basis of secondary full education, that is, after grade 11. If a student enters on the basis of secondary specialized education, then in some cases the period of study at a university may be reduced to 3 years. After graduation, the graduate receives a bachelor's degree and a corresponding diploma, which may well apply for vacancies where higher education is required. In 2010, there was a division into programs of applied undergraduate and academic undergraduate programs.

Kinds

Academic undergraduate studies are a classic form of study in higher education programs. The main emphasis in it is on the full development of the theoretical base in this specialty. It is assumed that, after obtaining a bachelor's degree, the student will enter a magistracy and, possibly, will engage in scientific activities.

Books - theoretical knowledge

Applied baccalaureate is a form of study in higher education programs, which is focused not only on theoretical, but also practical, professional training of a student. It is necessary for the training of specialists with a high level of knowledge in the specialty, but also with certain experience in this field.

The essence of applied undergraduate

Despite the fact that the program has been commissioned in many universities for about 10 years, few people understand what it is. Undoubtedly, an applied baccalaureate is a higher education, and a diploma of this form of training can apply for specialties where higher education is required.

The main goal of this program is to train personnel who, after graduation, will be able to start work without additional internships and continuing education courses. Many employers interested in such personnel help develop curricula together with institutes.

Students in class

As well as academic, applied undergraduate programs last four years, after which the graduate receives a diploma of higher and secondary special education. In addition, a graduate of an academic baccalaureate can immediately enter a magistracy, and a graduate of an applied bachelor's degree only after having worked for several years in the specialty. At a technical school or college, an undergraduate degree cannot be completed.

Specialties

Currently, there are about 60 areas in which the standard of applied baccalaureate is developed. Students enter these curricula annually. The most popular specialties among applicants:

  • legal;
  • economic;
  • environmental;
  • engineering;
  • sociological.

Applied specialties also included chemistry, choreography, computer science, tourism, management and other areas.

More than 40 universities across the country supported the applied baccalaureate program and are actively implementing it.

Pros of Applied Undergraduate

This system of higher education has long been operating in Europe. She has her own significant advantages.

Firstly, the introduction of applied baccalaureate is an opportunity to make an inveterate education system more flexible. Many students, receiving the coveted crusts about higher education, do not go to work in their specialty. This is due to the fact that they vaguely presented their responsibilities in practice. The introduction of more applied disciplines will prevent disappointment in the chosen profession.

Students at a lecture

Secondly, after graduation, a graduate can immediately go to work. If he needs advanced training, or he decides to expand his knowledge in the field of study, he can enter the magistracy. This principle gives knowledge in higher education awareness.

Thirdly, the applied baccalaureate graduates specialists who are qualified in the chosen specialty. The labor market now has a shortage of personnel with work experience, and many employers are more likely to accept a person who has an idea of the profession than a graduate without applied knowledge.
