Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling

Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling has a number of characteristics that distinguish them from the mass of other building materials used for decoration. First of all, we are talking about an extremely high level of adhesion to the surface, which allows you to hide minor flaws that existed before coating, or to mask those that appeared during operation.

Sometimes there is a need for repair caused by very slight damage to the surface when there is no need to completely change it. In this case, the liquid wallpaper for the ceiling can only be removed in the damaged area, mixed with water, adding a little new filler, and after six hours put with a spatula in its original place.

In general, this type of decoration material, which is also called decorative plaster, is quite new. It consists of pulp and paper fiber, decorative coloring additives and CMC glue. The variety of colors and textures provide much more room for imagination than ordinary wallpaper or stucco.

Liquid Wallpaper: Application

In order for the coating to be of high quality and durable, it is necessary to observe a certain application technology during the work.

First, the amount of material needed is determined. One package is enough for about 5 square meters of covered surface. When calculating the final figure, it is advisable to round up, setting the stock for complex areas or the loss of material in waste. It should be borne in mind that for processing one surface, you should always choose materials of one batch and one batch.

Next, the ceiling must be cleaned of the old coating (paint, putty) and check how smooth the surface turned out. It should not have cracks, but it should not be perfectly smooth - liquid wallpaper is best applied on the ceiling to light roughness.

If there are joints of plates on the surface, they need to be glued with a serpentine, coated with PVA and vetonite. All metal parts (if any) are coated with alkyd enamel.

After that, you can proceed to the primer. To do this, use enamel (at the rate of 250 g per square meter), which is applied in two layers, after 12 hours. An hour after the last application of enamel, you can begin to cover the ceiling with liquid wallpaper. This must be done no later than in a day.

Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling must first be prepared. Shake the bag with the filler several times to make it easier to knead the solution. Warm water is added in parts to the dry mixture, the solution is stirred until the lumps completely disappear. It will take 40-60 minutes for the mass to swell. In this case, it will be necessary to mix it periodically (4-5 times).

You can apply liquid wallpaper to the ceiling in two ways: by spraying (using a spray gun) and by smoothing (using a spatula). Both methods are equally reliable, the choice depends only on which one is more convenient for you. The applied solution is smoothed with a trowel, foam rubber with a paint or rubber roller. The thickness of the coating layer depends on the structural features of the stucco fibers. Some varieties should be applied with a layer of 1.5–3 mm, others - 4–5 mm, so you need to pay attention to these instructions. It will take about two days to fully dry.

5-6 hours after application, the surface is treated with embossed rollers, which are periodically wetted with water

Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling due to the characteristics of the material will have such qualities as moisture resistance and moderate moisture absorption. This material consists of natural components and is environmentally friendly, provides good heat and sound insulation, is antistatic and does not attract dust. Therefore, it is very convenient to care for: it is enough to wipe it occasionally with a damp cloth.
