We connect daytime running lights with our own hands

The brightest sign of modernity is the increasing number of cars on the streets of our cities. This process becomes the cause of air pollution, traffic jams and an increase in the number of accidents, which is another characteristic of our reality. To improve road safety, drivers must now use dipped-beam headlights during daytime driving. This measure is able to secure traffic on the roads, but is the reason for the increase in fuel consumption. And it is better to cope with this task daytime running lights mounted on the vehicle.

Daytime running lights are an integral part of any car. They are often equated with marker lights, not only the drivers starting their activity, but also quite experienced car owners, so it is important to understand what the running lights are. Similar lights are one of the types of car lamps that are directed forward and are used to increase the degree of visibility of the car while driving on daytime roads. The difference between running lights and parking lights is that they have greater brightness and can only be used in motion, and parking lights are predetermined solely to indicate the size of the car.

Car navigation lights have many features. They can be classified into several of the most popular types: high beam, low beam, front emitters. Often, many motorists use passing lights to replace running lights. On the territory of Russia since November 2010, it is mandatory to use either navigation lights or dipped headlights. However, when comparing them, it becomes clear that the former have significant advantages. Running lights consume several times less fuel than dipped-beam lamps. If automobile driving lights are used, the rear position lamps do not light up at the rear, which makes the brake lights more visible for the vehicle going behind.

If your car is not equipped with such a useful thing, then you can easily mount the daytime running lights with your own hands, which will allow you to save significantly in the future. When buying them, everyone can decide whether to take them only or in conjunction with a special module that is responsible for turning them off if the dipped-beam headlights are turned on.

Do-it-yourself daytime running lights

It often happens that the car owner prefers to install daytime running lights with his own hands. Here everyone is free to do as it is convenient and profitable. It is important to know exactly how to connect running lights so as not to damage the optics of the car, because such a breakdown can only be fixed in the cabin. Of course, do-it-yourself running lights are a great alternative to their cabin installation.

Running lights are installed on cars, but are prohibited for installation on trailers. The installation diagram is not fundamental, therefore there is room for creativity. Place running lights at a distance of no more than 400 millimeters from the edge of the overall width of the car. Between the inner edges of the visible lantern surfaces should be a distance of at least 600 millimeters. The height of the navigation lights should be within 250-1500 millimeters above the level of the road. It is important to direct them strictly forward. The electrical circuit means that the driving lights must be switched on simultaneously with the start of the vehicle engine, and their automatic shutdown should be carried out when the main headlights are turned on, as an exception, the headlights can be turned on for a short period of time.

If you strictly adhere to the requirements, then installing the daytime running lights with your own hands will not be difficult, and they will fully comply with the rules of the road.
