The drug "Ultracain" is a combined anesthetic with a pronounced local analgesic effect.

The drug "Ultracainum" is used for operations on bones or mucous membranes, mainly in dentistry, when there is an urgent need to remove or treat teeth under general anesthesia. Its action occurs within 1-2 minutes after administration. The effect lasts from 1 to 3 hours. The medicine has a mild toxicity, almost does not affect the cardiac system, so it can be used even by patients with a high risk group. How to administer Ultracain - depends on the type of anesthesia. Intravenous administration is not recommended. The dose of the drug depends on the duration and severity of the surgery. The maximum single dose is from 5 to 6 mg per kilogram of weight.
The drug "Ultracainum" during pregnancy and lactation
The drug can penetrate the placenta, so during pregnancy it is used in case of urgent need. In this case, it is preferable to use the variety "Ultracain DS". A nursing mother should feed her baby no earlier than four hours after the administration of the drug.

Contraindications
Anesthetizing agent "Ultracaine" is not recommended for pregnancy in case of tachycardia and tachyarrhythmias, acute heart failure, severe arterial hypertension, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma, bronchial asthma, and the patient’s hypersensitivity to this drug. With great caution, it can be used by pregnant women suffering from diabetes mellitus, bleeding disorders, severe kidney and liver diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, cardiovascular diseases, chronic bronchitis, etc.
Side effects
The drug "Ultracaine" during pregnancy, like any medication, has a number of side effects. After its use, reddening of the skin and itching, rhinitis or conjunctivitis, urticaria, swelling, shortness of breath, etc. may appear.
Overdose
Anesthetics "Ultracaine" during pregnancy is used in extreme cases, and its overdose is dangerous for a woman's life. Possible nausea and vomiting, difficulty breathing until it stops, loss of consciousness, twitching and muscle cramps, cramps, shock, and even heart failure. With such symptoms, glucocorticoids and plasma substituting and electrolyte solutions are administered intravenously. The phenomena of tachyarrhythmia and tachycardia can be eliminated with the help of antiarrhythmic drugs. With high blood pressure, it is better to resort to peripheral vasodilators.
