Niagara is a group from France. This is a duet of Daniel Shenevier and Muriel Moreno. Its founders met in 1982. Muriel studied art history in Rennes. Daniel played keyboards in various bands.
Story
In the beginning, the duo created a project called “Yellow Shadow” (L'Ombre jaune). This team brought together Daniel, who played the keys, Jose Tamarin, who was responsible for the guitar, and Muriel, who took the place of the vocalist and took the pseudonym Moreno. Soon the group gave the first concert. Muriel simultaneously managed to work as a DJ and receive a master's degree in art. In 1984, the indicated team changed its name. Thus, the Niagara group appeared. The team took part in a special competition. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture in Rennes. His goal was to identify promising young teams.
Professional debut
After the competition, the Niagara group signed a contract with Polydor. In 1985, the band recorded their first single, titled Tchiki Boum. This work soon made the team popular. Soon, Jose Tamarin left the team, and the Niagara group became a duet. In 1986, the musicians recorded their next single, entitled L'amour à la plage.
The conquest of the capital

The Niagara group moved to Paris. It was there that the first album, Encore un dernier baiser, was released. This work is a mixture of funk, Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz and Muriel's sensual vocals. In 1987, the group played a concert in Olympia. Soon the team made the first tour of France. In 1988, the team released a new album called Quel enfer. It has a more rock sound. This work was very warmly received by the audience. Flammes de l'Enfer, Soleil d'hiver and Assez were in the Top 50. At the same time, Muriel changed her image. She dyed her hair red and started wearing incredibly large hats. As part of the next tour, the group visits many countries, including the USA, Canada, Tunisia, Morocco. In 1990, a new album called Religion was released. After that, the collective resumed concert activity. At the same time, musicians become the stars of the European MTV. From this moment on, their clips begin to be actively demonstrated on television, even Soviet. There are problems during this period. They are connected with the fact that Muriel understands that he cannot work and live at such a pace. In 1992, the musicians returned to studio work and released their latest album, entitled La vérité. After that, they again begin a tour of European countries. On tour in Sweden, vocalist Muriel has an aphonia. This leads to the cancellation of the tour.
