Christian icons, as a rule, have the strongest energy. For centuries they have served as a consolation to people. Before the images, earnest prayers, desperate and secret requests and confessions were offered. Therefore, the Lord endowed many icons with special properties, thanks to which they became miraculous.
Grace of the Pskov-Pechersky Monastery
One of these shrines is located on the Pskov land, in the Pskov-Pechersky monastery. This is the icon “Tenderness,” the significance of which is difficult to overestimate for all believers. It is a miraculous image of the Mother of God and was made from the famous image of Our Lady of Vladimir. Back in 1154, the original source was brought from Kiev lands by Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky to his estate - Vladimir-on-Klyazma. Two centuries later, they transferred it with triumphs and honors to the Assumption Cathedral in Moscow. It was there that the monk Arseniy Khitrosh saw the image. He was written off the original icon "Tenderness." The number of miracles performed through it emphasizes that special awe that causes the image of all worshipers before him. This event happened in the 16th century - in 1521. A few years later, the merchants Fedor and Vasily delivered it to Pskov. And already in 1524, thanks to the icon, the rumor of miraculous healings passed through the Russian lands.
Following the glorious events
In the most tense moments for themselves and the country, people turned in prayers to the saints for help. The “Tenderness” icon began to enjoy great popularity, the meaning of which is as follows: the Mother of God, the Intercessor, heals, supports and encourages the afflicted, rejoices with them to recover and ease their fate, is touched by the infinite possibilities of her Son. In 1581, the icon took the trouble away from Pskov during the siege of the city by the Poles. According to legend, the cannonball hit it , but neither the image was damaged, nor the people nearby were wounded. Two centuries later, in the era of the war of 1812, she defended another Russian city - Polotsk - the icon "Tenderness." The significance of this event was so high that from that time on October 7 a holiday was celebrated annually in honor of the image.
Miracles of the Lord
Already from the middle of the 16th century, a series of pilgrims went and went to the Pskov monastery - for healing, blessing, help in other matters. Chronicles have saved by name lists of those whom the icon of “Tenderness” saved. The meaning of the icon - the Healer - has long been entrenched in the people. The blind appeared to have sight from birth or by accident. The weak got up and could walk. The mute opened up the gift of speech. All this and much more was recorded in the folk memory and passed from mouth to mouth, and the holy fathers in the churches wrote down everything for posterity - in the
name of the glory of the Lord. Miracles continue to this day. Christians are firmly convinced that the prayer of the icon “Tenderness”, uttered from the heart, can do much.
