Dzhebariki-Khaya is a very small urban-type settlement in the Republic of Yakutia. Interestingly, it is located on two banks of the small river Aldan. This village is famous for its coal mine, which provides work for almost the entire working population of the village. Today we will talk in more detail about the mine, which "feeds" 1,500 people, and also provides coal to the Republic of Yakutia.
Dzhebariki-Khaya, whose photo we will see below, is a village for people who are used to working and getting their bread with sweat and blood. Some leave, but most stay here forever.
Do you know how Yakutia "lives"? Jebariki Haya is a powerful enterprise that allows the republic to sell and use coal for its own needs.
History of the region
The first documentary written evidence of the village appeared in 1941. The center of development was the left bank of the Aldan River. At the beginning of its history, the region was part of the Tatta district, but soon it separated and became an independent unit. In 1957, the Jebraki-Khain Village Council was formed. Already in 1974, the district was categorized as a working village of the country. After 10 years, the long construction of the Jebraiki – Khai coal mine was completed, and in 1985 it began its work.
As for the geographical features of the region, we can say that it is suitable for people who are strong, hardened and accustomed to difficulties. In fact, the choice of residents is limited. Only those young people who are not satisfied with the future picture of their life leave the village and enter higher education institutions in other cities.
The climate of the village is sharply continental, which is why winter is always long and harsh, and summer is short but too hot. By the second half of October, the Aldan River completely freezes. Despite such severe weather conditions, this region is not deprived of vegetation at all. Handicraft plantations are very common, spruce, pine, birch, viburnum and bird cherry are also found.
Mine history
Despite the official date of the creation of the mine, it began its work in 1941. The first coal production amounted to only 5 thousand tons of coal. However, production gradually flourished and volumes increased before our eyes.
1943 was a difficult and crucial year both for the village and for the work of the mine, since there was a serious threat of the spread of typhoid. Only thanks to the timely efforts of the administration and the measures taken, the epidemic was stopped.
The misfortunes did not end there, and in the spring of that year, the flood of the river took most of the coal from the warehouse. This became a serious problem, as the mine was just developing, and it was difficult to quickly recover losses. In order to quickly solve this problem, workers and employees were sent from the enterprises of Yakutsk who made every effort to combat the disaster. Despite the fact that timely intervention helped provide the republic with coal, mine production this year was minimal.
A kind of breakthrough occurred in 1944, when the Stakhanov movement intensified . The increase in labor productivity and the mechanization of some processes have significantly increased profits. An even more significant step in development was made in 1957, when the company had 7 trucks, 5 bulldozers and 6 boats, as well as several scraper conveyors.
Universal mechanization was carried out in 1960. Over the next 10 years, the enterprise worked perfectly, providing coal to the region and making a decent profit. In 1973, a coal seam fire occurred, as well as three cases of coal dust explosion. These events led to the fact that the mines were mothballed. OJSC Mine "Dzhebariki-Khaya" was launched in 1985. Its design capacity was 600 thousand tons per year.
Characteristics
The mine is located in the north-east of Yakutia, on the Aldan River. The field was discovered by 5 adits. All lavas are equipped with mechanized complexes. Since 2014, the mine is gradually shifting to open-pit mining. The transition is carried out in 3 stages:
- underground workings development;
- overburden operations;
- continuation of activity and purchase of a site for open-pit coal mining.
First, they will practice the open-cut mining method on the right bank of the river, and in the future it is planned to master the left one.
Crashes
Two major accidents occurred at the mine: in 1973 and in 1988. Unfortunately, in each of them someone died. Despite the fact that the victims are single, they are still innocent human lives. There were no legal proceedings regarding the deaths of workers, since the causes of the accidents were recognized as natural and unpredictable. In the fire and explosions of 1973, 4 people died: 2 miners and 2 mine rescuers. In 1988, a rock collapse occurred that took the life of one person.
Population
The population of the village is 1,441 people. Such a small number of people living here is explained by the fact that the territory is significantly remote from the central big cities, as well as by the fact that residents have no choice of a place of work - everyone, one way or another, is involved in the functioning of the main coal mining enterprise.
Economy
The village of Dzhebariki-Khaya exists thanks to the mine of the same name, which is the basis of the economic situation of the region. It is part of the production association "Yakutugol." The mine is located near the village of Khandyga, therefore, the employees of the enterprise try to settle closer to the place of work.
Researchers of the village saying that it is thanks to the active work of the mine that the population of the region can be included in the national process of the circulation of goods and money.
