International Customs Day, as you know, around the world is celebrated on January 26. It should be noted that even in Ancient Russia there was a kind of customs. Customs Day. Story
Trading fees, as a rule, were levied by members of the princely squad, who were otherwise called "tax collectors". Of course, in ancient Russia, all
customs duties were conditionally divided into travel and trade. Moreover, a wash was also charged for transporting goods through internal or external outposts. For example, the “dry” wash was intended for crossing by land, and “water”, therefore, for transportation by water.
In 1868, the so-called Sea Cruising was created. Its main purpose was to strengthen the maritime border throughout the Baltic Sea. Later, in 1872, the so-called customs flotilla was founded on the same territory. In 1893, the border guard was withdrawn from the financing of the Department of Customs duties.
In 1912, the last planned reform of the customs structure in
Tsarist Russia was approved
. After the adoption of the relevant decree of the
Council of People's Commissars, in which the speech mainly addressed the issues of nationalization of absolutely all foreign trade, a decision was made to establish a border guard.
As for our country, serious changes in this area began to occur after 1991, when the official Customs Code of the USSR was adopted
Customs Day in Russia. History of occurrence
It should be noted that Customs Day of the Russian Federation is a relatively young holiday, which was officially proclaimed after the collapse of the USSR. President Boris Yeltsin signed a decree set the date - October 25. Recall that earlier Customs Day in our country was celebrated on May 29. Today on this day customs veterans are honored.
According to experts, Yeltsin’s decision was not at all random. The thing is that it was on October 25 of the distant 1653 that the so-called Single Customs Charter appeared in our country, which came out of the pen of Alexei Romanov.
Throughout the world, as noted above, Customs Day is celebrated on January 26th. This date is primarily associated with the establishment of the first meeting of the Customs Cooperation Council in Brussels (January 26, 1953).
The World Customs Organization is currently consolidating under its leadership 179 states, including our country. It is worth noting that the Russian Federation has been directly an honorary member of this organization for several decades. Thanks to close cooperation and the coordinated work of this structure, Russia has managed to achieve a gradual strengthening of international cooperation, as well as interaction with foreign customs organizations.
