Group "Plasma": biography, clips and songs

plasma group

One of the first bands in Russia that performed exclusively English-language compositions for a Russian-speaking audience was the Plasma group. Few even the fans of the guys know that they were originally called Slow Motion. But for success in the pop field, you needed a short, sonorous, bright, memorable name that would sound the same in all languages, and therefore it was decided to become "Plasma". About how the Plasma group was created, its biography described in this article will tell in detail. We also learn about some facts from the life of the team members.

The beginning of time

The Plasma group was created back in 1990. And it all started like that. Participants of the future, even in the thoughts of a non-existent collective, met in 1986 in Volgograd, in the Teacher’s House, where they were invited to become members of a new group. Its leader Andrei Tryasuchev brought together talented young guys: Roman Chernitsyn, Nikolai Romanov, Alexei Voronkov, Sergey Starodub, Roman Rybin and Maxim Postelny. But the team was not destined to exist for a long time, it soon broke up.

Three guys from the former team (Maxim Postelny, Roman Chernitsyn, Nikolai Romanov) decided to create a new one, calling it Slow Motion, which means “slow motion”. The name of the group was based on the name of one of the songs of the most popular Modern Talking at that time. Already then, in 1990, the work of the group was based on the principle of performing only English-language songs. The team members wanted to prove that in Russia you can make the same progressive and high-quality music as in the West.

First songs

Immediately after the creation of the team, the guys set to work. In the same place, in Volgograd, the main musical material for the debut album was recorded. In 1991, the group released their first collection of songs called Falling In Love (translated as “falling in love”). Not waiting for the first results of the work, Nikolai Romanov left the group. In parallel with the recordings, the participants began to shoot videos, participate and win in various competitions and festivals. So, Slow Motion took second place at the First rock start in 1991 and the first at the Second rock start in 1992.

Period of creative inaction

From the end of 1992 to 1993, the group remained inactive. Chernitsyn Roman decided to get a job at the Spetsenergoremont plant, Maxim Postelny spent all his time studying at the art school. But everything changed one call.

The cassette with the recordings of the collective fell into the hands of Sergey Ivanovich Oleinik, general director of the Help trading house, who decided to become a sponsor of the guys. Soon, with the assistance of his patron, Roman and Maxim receive an invitation to participate in the program "Star rain". The program was broadcast on RTR, and therefore almost the entire country saw it.

After they learned about the duo, several people appeared who wanted to start producing them. The group's mentor was Anatoly Abolikhin, working with Dmitry Malikov, a well-known performer at that time. In 1993, some old songs were re-recorded and new ones recorded in Volgograd. In Moscow, the guys recorded an updated song Take My Love, which later became one of the most popular in the history of Russian pop music.

Conquering new peaks

During 1996-1998, the group recorded new songs, performed in the clubs of Volgograd. But very quickly it became clear that the guys were crowded in a small town. In early 1998, a new album was released called Prologue, with which the team ventured to go to Moscow. But in connection with the then situation in the country, it turned out to be done only at the beginning of 1999. At first, Bed Maxim worked as a sound engineer at the Europa Plus radio station.

Name change and success
group plasma biography

In 1999, the guys met Dmitry Malikov, who became their producer for the next five years. He also initiated the change of the name of the collective to a more vivid and memorable one, and he was right - the Plasma group became recognizable.

In December 2000, the duet's new album, Take My Love, was released, which literally blew up the Russian music market. The Plasma group has become very popular not only in its own country, but also far beyond its borders. The team toured in all countries of the near abroad. In the same year, the Plasma group, with the help of Philip Jankowski, shot videos of her two songs: The Sweetest Surrender and Take My Love.

At the end of 2001, viewers saw the third video for the song Lonely, and in the middle of 2002, the fourth - for the song You'll Never Meet an Angel. The video was directed by Oleg Gusev. According to his idea, the producer of the group Dmitry Malikov himself starred in the video as the “big boss”. The work was interesting and exciting, like a real action movie: with weapons, expensive cars and beautiful girls.

Modern "Plasma": the composition of the group

plasma soloist

In 2003, guitarist Trofimov Nikolay, their good friend from the times of Volgograd projects, joined the permanent members of the collective, Bed Maxim and Chernitsyn Roman. Later, another musician came into the group - violinist Alexander Luchkov. In this composition, the guys still perform, only call themselves the main (Maxim, Roman) and secondary (Nikolai, Alexander) part of the group.

Mysterious album "607"

In 2002, fans heard completely different songs from the Plasma band. The album, entitled "607", the meaning of which no one knew, was released at the end of 2002. It included serious, mature and very lyrical compositions, which once again confirmed that “Plasma” is a progressive group of the Russian pop scene, capable of successful experiments and reincarnations. Thanks to the album "607" they also found out about the group in France, Finland, the Baltic States, where the guys went on tour.

Third album

After a short break, the band returned to their fans with a new collection of songs called Black and White. The Plasma group, the clips for the songs of which were always exciting, and for the song One Life from the third album, was able to release a video clip with a deep fascinating plot. The story told of a sick girl lying in a glass chamber isolated from the outside world. The doomed of the last forces hopes for a miracle, and it happens: Her Majesty Love appears in her life and saves her. The clip was directed by Kevin Jackson.

Another song from this album that deserves attention is Living in the Past. The song interested foreign DJs, who created a large number of remixes on it.

And he kept his word - in 2011 their single Angel of Snow was released, and in 2013 another one was Black Leather Boys. In total, over the entire history of the existence of the collective, three albums, eighteen singles and eight video clips were released.
