How to draw a monkey step by step

The behavior of these funny and smart creatures can be observed for a long time and with pleasure. Some amateurs purchase and keep primates at home, caring for them as pets. Make a sketch

First, with a simple pencil, draw an oval - the future body of the monkey, then arrange a circle (head) in its upper part so that it “dips” in the oval by about one third. On the lower part of this circle we will draw a smaller circle - the animal’s mouth will be on it. In the upper part of the oval, at a short distance from the head, we draw two small circles, indicating the shoulders of the primate. From them we draw down the lines approximately to the middle of the oval and draw the same circles - elbows, with the same length and lines and a circle on the lower level of the oval we will finish the “skeleton” of the monkey’s hands. Now let’s take our feet. Joints of knees and feet are also denoted by circles. How to draw a monkey that sits? The legs of the animal will be bent at the knees, so the lines coming out from the bottom of the oval must be drawn up, and the lines coming out from the knee joints should be at an angle of about forty degrees.

We will monitor compliance with the proportions. Having completed the foundation, we begin to clothe it in the flesh. It is important to ensure that the arms and legs are not too thick, but not too skinny, otherwise we will get a character for horror movies, not a monkey. Pictures drawn from nature (photographs) will look more believable than those made from memory.

Filling a sketch with life

After making sure that the proportions are met, we remove the contours of the "skeleton" of the figure with an eraser. Draw the fingers and toes. The animal places its feet with its socks inward, the fingers and toes are bent, with the left hand the monkey rests his knuckles on the floor or the ground. Then work on the head and face of the animal. We will draw the ears, outline the mouth, thin lips on the prominent part of the “face”, slightly twisted nostrils, close-set round eyes and eyebrows arched over them. Around the mouth, we outline the characteristic transverse wrinkles. The eyes of most primates are painted black where people have proteins, so they practically merge with the pupils. To give the eyes a lively shine, we leave a small white spot on the pupil. We will not press too hard on the pencil, because to achieve accuracy we will have to erase and re-draw the contours of the muzzle.

Somewhere it grows denser, in some areas it is almost absent. Fur densely covers the head and shoulders of the animal. We will depict it with confident strokes, not forgetting to part in the “hairstyle” of the beast. In place of the mammary glands, leave light circles. Let's not forget about chiaroscuro: let’s strengthen the dark tones under the knees, on the inside of the limbs, on the sides, under the chin. Here, perhaps, are all the main stages of how to draw a monkey. The animal figurine can be placed in the jungle landscape where it lives, or in any other.
