OneRepublic is a band performing alternative rock and pop rock songs. It was founded in the American city of Colorado Springs. OneRepublic became tremendously popular after the release of the single Apologize, which three times acquired platinum status and reached third place in the UK charts in 2007.
Biography
OneRepublic was created in 2002 in America by school friends Ryan Tedder (vocalist) and Zach Filkins (guitarist). After the guys moved to Los Angeles, they were joined by Eddie Fisher, who played the drum set, bassist Tim Myers and Drew Brown (keyboards).
The band's first name was Republic, but after it signed with Columbia Records in 2003, the name had to be changed because the former was used by other bands. So the OneRepublic group got its current name.
The group has been working on a debut album for more than two years, but just before its release, Columbia Records label terminated its contract. Due to the fact that the group became known on the MySpace network, and the fact that the lead singer Ryan Tedder, in addition to participating in the group, worked for the well-known producer Timbaland, OneRepublic was able to sign a new contract with the producer's studio - Mosley Music group. They became the first pop group to work with this company.
OneRepublic became really famous when, in 2007, Timbaland released an album called Shock Value, which contained a remix of the song by OneRepublic soloist Ryan Tedder. Its name was Apologize.
The remixed composition gained immense popularity, receiving platinum status three times. The song of the OneRepublic Apologize group held the leading position in the Pop 100 charts for 2 months. It was able to reach second place in the Hot 100 charts.
In November 2007, the first OneRepublic Dreaming Out Loud album was finally released. After the great success of the platinum song, the group became interested in the audience, and the record became gold.
Photos of OneRepublic began to print in magazines. From everywhere there were offers to speak on television, and songs began to be played on the radio. OneRepublic even performed with American poet and singer David Archuleta on the popular American Idol show. There they performed a song by Apologize.
In 2008, OneRepublic musicians took a joint tour with the Maroon 5 band and Brandy Carlisle.
In 2008, at one of the concerts in London, the band announced that it was preparing a new album, called Waking Up. His release was scheduled for one of the summer months of 2009, and recording was conducted in Denver. The expected record came out with a slight delay, but became very successful. She reached 21st place on the Billboard 200 chart.
Structure
Ryan Tedder is a very bright personality in the modern world of European music. He was the initiator of the creation of the OneRepublic group and to this day remains its performer. It has a pleasant lyrical tenor. In addition to working in a team, he acts as a producer and songwriter of such famous artists as Adele, Beyoncé, James Blunt and many others. He works with bands like Maroon 5, One Direction, and even the Tatu band. Ryan Tedder unofficially holds the title of "The Secret King of Pop." He was nominated for a Grammy nine times, three of which he won.
Zach Filkins is an American musician who created OneRepublic with Tedder. He plays the solo guitar, violin, plays the role of backing vocalist.
Edward Fisher is a musician of OneRepublic. He plays the drum kit. He joined the team in 2004 and is its member to the present.
Brent Cutzl has been a bassist for OneRepublic since 2007. Joined her when former bass player Tim Myers left her, wanting to create a solo music career. In addition to playing bass on the bass, Brent Cutzl also accompanies the cello in some songs.
Songs
Some OneRepublic songs became known outside their albums. Some of them were used for soundtracks or background compositions in films. For example, a song from the Waking Up album, called Secrets, was sounded in the movie Sorcerer's Apprentice and Handsome 2. The popular single Good Life perfectly complemented such films as "Excellent student of easy virtue" and "One Day".
And of course, their platinum song Apologize became the soundtrack to the film “The Handsome” by the famous German actor and director Til Schweiger.
In 2009, the team recorded the song Lost Then Found together with the winner of the British "X-Factor" Leona Lewis.
Albums
The number of OneRepublic albums is not large yet, given the fact that the group is very young. The first two records called Dreaming Out Loud and Waking Up brought her resounding success.
After, in 2013, an album called Native was released. And relatively recently, in 2016, the OneRepublic group released the new Oh My My record.
