Waffles: calories, benefits and harms

Today, waffles occupy a solid niche in the confectionery practice. In any cookbook in the confectionery section, you can always find a chapter about them. Wafers, the calorie content of which is not inferior to other confectionery products, is one of the many varieties of cookies that has the form of a thin plate with an impression of a cellular structure. Wafers are usually made from batter in specially designed baking dishes.

Wafers can be baked not only as a separate dessert, but to make more complex pastry masterpieces, for example, rosettes with filling, straws, waffle cakes, etc. For lovers of a slender figure, I would not recommend abusing them or even completely abandon such a product as waffles: its calorie content is quite large (from 300 calories per 100 g).

Dry and crunchy leaves, called waffles, are baked in special waffle irons according to a very simple recipe. The composition of the classic version is as follows: water, eggs, flour, icing sugar. Baked products are cut into smaller pieces. The filling is very different, most often fatty or berry-fruit. Chocolate wafers are especially popular, the caloric content in them, I must say, is greatest (more than 500 calories per 100 g of product). The product may have a variety of shapes, be fully or partially glazed with chocolate or other icing.

Manufacturers usually produce wafers with fruit filling in 5 layers, based on fat - 9 layers. Of course, products with fatty filling are very tender and melt pleasantly in the mouth, but they are not useful. I would say harmful. On the shelves of supermarkets there is a large selection of wafers based on fat fillings. These fillings are nothing but trans fats. Many manufacturers do not withstand technological standards, and such fats in the product are off scale. I think there is no need to explain a lot that because of such a poor-quality product, excess cholesterol accumulates in the human body. Flavors can be added to such a filling, which do not bring benefits to the body. Wafers, whose calorie content is high, except for harm, excess weight, cholesterol, diseases, will not bring anything good, except for two minutes of taste pleasure, while you will be supported by them.

Among the negative factors that adversely affect the body when consuming a large amount of wafer products, some scientists include breast cancer disease, the risk of developing diabetes. From them, immunity decreases, overweight is observed.

But if you think that is all, then I would like to emphasize that, despite all the airiness, apparent lightness, waffles are very high-calorie. Fat wafers, the calorific value of which per 100 g - 300 kcal adversely affect our health. What can I say, about when we eat chocolate wafers, the calorie content of which reaches 516 calories.

If the arguments are weak for you and you are still fans of waffle products, I would like to give a classic recipe and share some secrets for home-made waffles. So, you should take milk, butter, eggs (all ingredients are the same temperature in order to mix better). To prepare the dough, grind the oil, then add granulated sugar. Beat eggs separately until foamy. Sift the flour, add the baking soda quenched by the bite, pour into butter whipped with sugar. Pour flour in portions, alternating with milk, stir constantly. After that, pour the beaten egg into the dough and mix thoroughly again. Such a simple recipe prepared in your kitchen will at least slightly protect your family from consuming trans fats. After all, here is only your imagination, you can cook any filling, this dessert will be enjoyed with pleasure not only by kids, but also by the adult inhabitants of the house.
