In order to start such an activity as replacing the clutch, it is not enough just to know the basis of work in theory. It is necessary to take into account all the subtleties and possess at least the slightest skills of a mechanic. To perform this type of work will require special tools. It is worth noting that the clutch replacement on different types of cars is different.
Before you begin, you need to familiarize yourself with the mechanism itself, and then proceed with the steps. On a car with front-wheel drive, clutch replacement is much more difficult than on rear-wheel drive. The first thing to do is to purchase a new spare part and a good jack. The best way to raise the machine is to use a lift, as you will have to remove the entire transmission.
Before you begin, you need to make sure that it is the clutch that has stopped functioning. To check, you must press the pedal, while the part must open, which allows you to easily change gears. If a characteristic creak appears, then this is a clear sign that the clutch needs to be replaced. The cables, the driven disk, the pedal itself and the drive shaft are also checked, since often the problem is in them.
As mentioned earlier, each car has its own nuances in this type of work. So, for example, replacing a VAZ clutch is significantly different from a similar process in jeeps, so carefully read the instructions before use, which is designed specifically for your car brand.
The first thing to do is disconnect the hydraulic cylinder and battery. Next, the machine rises with a jack or put on a stand. Use a container in which fluid can drip from the transmission and place it under the part. On the mechanism are electrical wires that must also be disconnected. If the hydraulic driven disc is outside this part, it will also shut off. The starter is also removed, after which the bolts on the clutch bell are unscrewed, and the transmission is removed.
The next step is to install the engine on the jack. To do this, bring it under the crankcase and install. After this work is done, you will see the clutch itself. To remove it, unscrew the flywheel. Replacing the clutch also involves checking the parts adjacent to it, as well as the engine, which can leak oil. If any parts have worn out, they must be replaced. It may also be necessary to replace the clutch master cylinder, which is done by unscrewing it and installing a new one.
After the installation of the new clutch is completed, it is necessary to put the rest of the parts in the reverse order. The subsequent operation of the car depends on this process. If something goes wrong, then the car will start to malfunction.
After the work done, you need to check the fluid level in the gearbox. If it is less than the norm, then bring it to the necessary. Next, drive a short distance and check the clutch.
