There is such a group - Slipknot. Faddish and even (I’m not afraid of this word) brutal-looking guys, wearing Slipknot branded masks and overalls, literally burn the audience. Plus, not always aesthetic behavior, spattered with vomiting scenes and a lot of other nuances that clearly distinguish the guys from the total mass of rockers. I don’t argue, they have high-quality music, although they are clearly not remembered for this. The style of performing songs is nu-metal, alternative metal.
Image is nothing? Controversial issue
Slipknot masks, according to the members of the group themselves, are a way to remove their faces from the screens so that viewers listen only to music and do not bother with the appearance of the musicians. Well, if they really believe in it, then so be it. But in reality, Slipknot masks played the exact opposite effect - they became popular, and no one would confuse Slipknot musicians with other rock colleagues.
The group was formed in 1992, that is, it is more than twenty years old. But the masks first appeared three years later, that is, in 1995. The idea was proposed by Sean Crahan, who, after clinging to the mask of a clown, annealed on the stage by the most “don't mess around”. Naturally, the rest of the bandmates took advantage of the same way to excel. Then it was akin to insanity, and so much so that the masks were on the artists not only on the stage, but also at meetings with fans, the media. Sort of people X, who did not want anyone to see the true face of everyone.
Although, according to Sean Crahan, he is just sick of looking at himself in a video without a mask. Apparently, he does not particularly like to bother with his appearance, and therefore, in order not to provoke the masses of people to speculation, he put on a mask and lost all make-up problems.
The rest of the bandmates selected Slipknot masks for themselves, taking into account their own spiritual world, the way they see themselves. At least Joey Jordison and Corey Taylor agree with this. The latter even stated that the mask reflects the whole negative of his essence (although it was said more specifically, it is hardly possible to publicly voice his speech).
But once Joey Jordison hinted that a performance in one of the clubs, figuratively speaking, caused them to lose their faces, after which the era of the mysterious guys from Slipknot came. It is not known what happened at that performance, but it is clear that they were greatly offended.
After that, it was customary for Slipknot to wear masks. Of course, everything in the world is changing. They changed. As the Slipknot group developed, new masks gradually changed the appearance of the group members. And even later, the guys even began to appear in public without them. Here they are, the many-faced masks of the Slipknot group!
Overalls for participantsFollowing the masks, the group also received overalls. Judging by the words of the same Sean Crahan, he was the first to put on the jumpsuit and all for the same reason - someone said something about his appearance and game. In addition, in uncomfortable clothes, it was a little difficult to play the drums. Already at the next performance, the drummer came in working overalls. Other guys also got this idea. Play has become much more convenient. Over time, their clothes changed, its symbolism and appearance changed. The fabric was getting denser. Corey Taylor once joked about playing in such "braziers," saying that they lose weight in this way, since in a forty-degree heat the temperature in a suit doubles. This he called Slipknot-style weight loss. However, with their lifestyle without humor, nowhere. And after the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010, you need to hold on at all, as they have already become somewhat worn out and cooled down. Although they continue to stamp albums. We are waiting for the news of 2014.
