There are probably hundreds of options for decorating cakes in various ways using fruits and berries - fresh and canned. That's where even an inexperienced pastry chef will be able to fully demonstrate their natural imagination and decorate the cake with strawberries, for example, or kiwi, or both at the same time, adding cream, condensed milk or mastic, forming interesting figures from berries, decorating your dessert storyline.
The methods of decorating are very different, but there are some rules and tips that you should follow so that your work of culinary art does not turn into an unsightly mess after a while, which will be embarrassing for anyone to show. Product preparation
Before decorating the cake with strawberries, you need to carefully prepare the berries. We start with the selection of strawberries. Firstly, each berry must be solid. Then it is more convenient to cut, and the design will not fall apart. Itโs best to take a little bit immature than an overripe one. Then the berries need to be sorted out, separating substandard ones (they can then be used in syrup or just cut wormholes and eat). All that remains is mine in running water, but not too zealous at the same time so as not to disturb the shape of the berries. Ponytails, if any, and leaves are torn off (by the way, in some cases the leaves can also be used for decoration). Once again we check that the berries are one in one and look good externally.
General rules
Having prepared the products to decorate the cake with strawberries, we choose the accompanying materials. Strawberry berries can be used for buffet tables, and for fruit cakes and salads, and for cakes and biscuits. It goes well with strawberries chocolate - black and milk, whipped cream, mastic and powder. You will also need: a sharp knife for fruit, skewers or wooden toothpicks, a pan with a steam bath, a container for making syrup, powdered sugar and chocolate, whipped cream in a spray bottle.
Chocolate coated
To cover these berries with glaze, you can melt the chocolate of different colors in a water bath. And when it becomes liquid, then dip the berries into the mixture. In this case, the berry needs to be planted on a skewer or a toothpick and dipped in chocolate. Then we take it out, let the glaze harden, and we get wonderful berries to decorate the cake with strawberries - of a different color (by the way, halves are also good to use). They can spread the picture in a circle, alternating with berries of a natural natural color - it looks quite impressive.
In sugar or powder
You can try decorating the cake with strawberries in sugar or powdered sugar. However, any small berries are suitable for these purposes: blackcurrant , gooseberry, cherry, grapes, for example. But we chose strawberries in this case. The process of preparing material for decorating the cake itself looks quite simple.
- Cook sugar syrup (sugar and water 1: 1).
- We dip in the finished syrup the thoroughly washed, selected berries - each individually.
- Sprinkle the berries with icing sugar and spread on parchment to dry. After some time, you can carry out the process of decorating the cake according to your designs.
Strawberry Roses
- The first option is pretty filigree. We take a solid large berry and make 4 cuts from below to form the lowest row of petals. We shift up and make another 4 incisions. And the very top is carefully cut into 4 parts crosswise, and the resulting petals are slightly straightened. Thus, a strawberry rose will turn out (though for many, probably not the first time). With such roses, you can decorate a cake around the perimeter of the base, or you can decorate a cocktail, milk or alcohol. Everywhere a strawberry rose will look great. The only condition: the berry must be large and solid - otherwise nothing will work. Instead of a fruit knife, some use a sharp clerical drawer, pricking the berries at the base and making cuts in this way.
- The second option, easier to execute. Large berries are cut across into plates. Then we lay out with these plates first the first, largest circle of petals. After along a smaller circle - the second. At the end, we make the top of the flower from the same plates. This is another way to decorate the cake with strawberries (photo attached). Strawberry figurines
How to decorate a cake with strawberries at home? Figures from this berry are the best option. You will, of course, have to work on the creation, but your baked cake will have a very original appearance.
- For the New Year or Christmas table, we make little Santa Clauses. For this, the berry must be cut off by about a third from the top, making a hat. Next - between the remaining part of the berry and a hat of white cream of air - we form a head with eyes and a nose of caramel. Cover with a hat from above, topping it with a drop of cream from a spray bottle. You can make several of these figures at once and decorate the cake with them. Pour cream from the sprayer around the area (snow). And on the edges make Christmas trees of green marmalade, decorating with chocolate chips and nuts.
- Alternatively, mushroom figures made of these berries can be made as decoration. The whole berry can be used in the form of a mushroom cap, and the leg can be made from mastic or marmalade (or sprayed cream). You can also use half the berries.
How to decorate a cake with strawberries and kiwi
The idea of โโcombining the natural colors of kiwi and strawberries is great. Therefore, probably, these two products are often used to implement ideas on how to decorate a cake with strawberries beautifully. Kiwi needs to be washed and peeled. Next, cut the fruit in either slices or circles. Choose strawberries harder and also cut into slices. We lay on the surface of the cake, alternating red and green colors. "Traffic light"
By the way, there is even a cake with the same name, which you can try to decorate in a similar way on occasion, using both kiwi and strawberries. And as a yellow segment we can use bright yellow apples, amber melon or orange orange - whatever the soul wishes: to taste, all these products are perfectly combined with strawberries. So if we want to get bright and truly summer colors of the prepared sweets, we proceed as follows: we spread, alternating red, yellow and green, strawberries, apple slices, kiwi slices, achieving the desired result.
