History of creation
Ozon is a musical group that was founded in 1999 in Chisinau (Republic of Moldova). Initially, it was a duet. Dan Balan and Petru Zhelihowski previously performed as part of the rock band Inferialis. One day the guys decided to launch their project. The name for the new team came up with Dan Balan. Ozone is fresh and clean air generated after rain. In 1999, the Ozon group released her debut album Dar, unde eti, containing 11 tracks. The talented duet has gained great popularity among Moldovan youth.
Changes
Ozon is a group whose composition changed in 2001. Petru left the team. Dan Balan did not close the project. He announced a casting. Soon the group replenished with two musicians. One of them is called Radu Syrbu, and the second is Arseny Toderash.
In August 2002, the updated Ozon group presented the second disc, Number one, to the audience. This album brought the guys tremendous popularity in Romania.
The team gained worldwide fame in 2004. Then the third and last record was recorded - Disco-Zone. It included the composition Dragostea din tei, which became a real hit. Many fans sang along with the guys from Ozon, not knowing the Romanian language. The album was among the best-selling discs of 2005. Dan Balan and his colleagues did not even dream of such success.
Breakup story
On January 14, 2005, a band called Ozon ceased to exist. The contract between Arseniy Toderash, Dan Balan and Radu Syrbu was terminated. What is the reason for this decision? There are several versions. According to one of them, Dan wanted to develop his work in the style of rock. Allegedly, he was going to move to the USA and start producing one of the local groups.
Now announce the second version. 80% of all Ozon group revenues went to Dan Balan’s pocket. Other members of the team did not like this distribution of financial flows.
There is another version of the breakup of the Moldovan group. Allegedly, Dan Balan went to the USA for the New Year holidays. He organized Ozon performances, but with completely different participants.
Arseny and Radu did not confirm any of these rumors. They consider this the machinations of envious and ill-wishers. The breakup of the group in the circles of the team has long been known. All that was needed was a pretext for decisive action.
Career continuation
In 2007, the Romanian and Moldovan media reported that the Ozon group returns to show business. However, the news turned out to be a newspaper duck. The creative paths of Radu, Arseny and Dana have long diverged. The guys do not communicate with each other.
The greatest success in show business was achieved by Dan Balan. To date, he has several popular singles in his piggy bank, including Chica Bomb, Lendo Calendo and Freedom. Ex-lead singer of Ozon records songs in English, Romanian and Russian. For example, in 2010, Dan Balan in a duet with Vera Brezhneva performed the composition “Rose Petals”. This song appealed to Russian listeners.
