A general drawing is a document that defines the design of a product, assembly unit or part, explains the principle of its operation, as well as the interaction of the main components. This document is being developed at the initial design stage. It is made as a technical proposal or when developing a technical project.
Typically, a general view drawing is performed as simplified as possible, the components of the product can be depicted on one or more consecutive sheets.
According to the requirements of the ESKD (Unified Design Documentation System ) standards and the requirements for design documents, the drawing must have types, sections and sections, be made in a certain scale, contain the main dimensions of the product and designations.
Names and designations can be entered in a table placed on the same sheet or indicated using leader lines. On the leader line shelf, the position number is indicated, which will then be described in the attached table. In the table placed on the free field of the drawing, usually fill in the columns: “Pos.” - where they indicate the corresponding item number, “Designation”, “Qty.” - the number of such parts, “Additional instructions”, for example, material data or as follows to process its surface.
A general drawing may have a text in the form of technical requirements or characteristics, and this part must be placed on the first sheet. There should not be any images between the table, the text part and the main inscription (stamp).
The specification of the drawing, made in the form of a table, helps to read such a document. Names of parts, composition and technical characteristics necessary for reading a document are usually entered in this form on separate sheets of A-4 format .
Turning to the specification, you can easily navigate in all documents:
in the column “Designation” with the help of a specific designation indicate which drawing is described (a general view drawing of a part or an assembly drawing of a product);
the “Format” column will tell you whether the part has the attached drawing of a specific format A-1, A-2, A-3 or A-4, and if “warhead” is indicated in the column, then this is a standard part and does not have a drawing at all;
the column "Pos." indicates the number of the described position of the part in the drawing;
the “Name” column gives a complete picture of the name of a particular part or product, the material used and the available “Documentation”;
the column “Number” will indicate how much you need to perform according to the drawing of parts or products, select standard elements to create the entire assembly unit depicted in the drawing.
The specification for the drawing is carried out for each assembly unit, is filled from top to bottom, and the sections are arranged in a certain sequence, only according to certain GOSTs. Depending on the composition of the specified product, some sections may not be filled at all.
The final result of the project depends on the accuracy of the drawing and the correct filling of the specification. The drawing should be clear and easy to read. Therefore, such strict requirements are imposed on him.
