Military departments ... Sometimes their presence or absence becomes the main priority when choosing a higher educational institution. Of course, this primarily concerns young people, and not fragile representatives of the weak half of humanity, but nevertheless there is already a fairly strong conviction on this subject.
In accordance with it, as a rule, there is a military department in universities with a more positive reputation. The level of education in such institutes or universities in most cases is an order of magnitude higher, which means that the competition for applicants is more serious.

Today, military education is possible not only in higher military schools.
At civilian educational institutions, military departments are being created en masse and everywhere in the Russian Federation specifically for the purpose of training officers.
Achieving the goals facing this formation is carried out in various ways, including within the framework of the military training cabinet, military department, the organization of the military training cycle, the faculty of military training, the military training center, and the military educational faculty. The choice for students is actually huge.
Section 2. How does the military department affect the education system?
Any citizen in Russia, except for strictly defined categories, can be called up for military service.
As a rule, students trained in the military department are no longer called up for military service. It is in connection with this that the universities in which military departments are organized take priority among applicants throughout the country. Although, frankly, the possible motive for such behavior is precisely the desire to avoid being drafted into the army.

As a result, the quality of the educational process where there is no military department suffers significantly, since relatively weak applicants are initially accepted there.

Currently, they already operate in 27 universities of Russia. And now higher military education can be obtained at universities of the humanitarian profile.
A number of institutions of a technical profile have lost such formations that were actively functioning during the Soviet Union.
As a result of this, technical universities began to lose touch with defense enterprises and the opportunity in practice to master new equipment produced by military factories. In addition, graduates of technical universities, where military departments were abolished, were to begin serving in the army in the capacity of an ordinary private.

The founder of MGIMO is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A military department is functioning in this educational institution, carrying out the graduation of military linguists - in this university, training in 53 foreign languages is organized. MEPhI is the organizer of scientific research and various events in the scientific world. MEPhI actively employs laboratories headed by leading scientists. Within the framework of such laboratories, the problems of nanobioengineering, electromagnetic methods for the production of new materials are studied.
MEPhI has a military department, part of the Department of Cybernetics and Information Security. Education at this department is carried out in parallel with the passage of the basic training course. In 2013, work began at MEPhI to organize the formation of scientific companies from MEPhI graduates who had not been trained at the military department.

In 2014, the preparation of the legal framework for reforming military training at universities will begin. The purpose of the reform is to create conditions for students to master in parallel with the civilian and army specialties.
