The list of mortal sins is a list of “harmful” personality traits and human feelings, according to the church, which impede entry into paradise. He is often confused with the commandments of God. Yes, they are similar to each other, and at the same time different. The commandments were formulated by Jesus Christ himself, there are ten of them. And the list appeared later, its author is Evagrius of Pontus - a monk from a Greek monastery. At first there were 8 items on the list, but in the VI century it was changed by Pope Gregory the Great,
combined greed with vanity, replaced sorrow with envy, after which there were
seven deadly sins. In the 13th century, Thomas Aquinas, the famous Catholic theologian and theologian, undertook to edit the list, he tried to determine which of the listed sins was the first. Disputes about how the most harmful human feelings should be located are still ongoing. But it is still quoted in its original form: pride, envy, anger, despondency, greed, gluttony, lust. However, in our time they believe that laziness is a much more significant drawback than despondency.
If you look at the list of mortal sins, it becomes clear why exactly these human feelings entered it. Each of them leads to spiritual degradation, forcing a person to do things to the detriment of other people, and this is already real misconduct, for which you will have to answer before God. Of course, modern people interpret mortal sins, a list of which was compiled almost two thousand years ago, in a slightly different way than the early Christians. We have a different perception, more knowledge about the world around us. Although, by and large, the very feelings experienced by man have not changed too much, which means that motivation also.
The list of deadly sins begins with pride, or arrogance. There is a statement that you cannot argue with: everyone is equal before God. No one is allowed to humiliate the other, especially the weaker. Nothing destroys morality in man as a desire to feel a sense of superiority. The next step envy, it directly pushes people to anger and the desire to do dirty tricks to the lucky. Do not count the reasons, believe me, they envy not only the rich and famous, anyone can become a victim of an envious person. Others always have what you don’t have. Therefore, this feeling must be actively fought. It destroys from within. As soon as you envy someone, say: “I will have what I need and as much as I need.” Envy comes with envy, but with him everything is simple. In this state, you can do so much - then you won’t rake it in your whole life. Next comes laziness. It makes a person inert and indifferent, kills the desire in him to set goals and achieve them, not to mention the fact that such a person will definitely not work on himself and correct his shortcomings. Gradually, he turns from a personality into a biological being.
Greed can be described by the common phrase: "Fraer’s greed has destroyed." 80% of all crimes
committed out of thirst for profit. Comments are redundant here. Gluttony can be interpreted as immoderation. In our time, it has become an actual sin, with a sense of proportion we have big problems. We have entered the era of resource availability and huge consumer opportunities. All the time I want everything and more. It’s easier for us to get into loans at 50% than to refuse to buy the desired thing. There is no need to voice all the problems associated with this. All of the above is true for lust, or excessive sexual freedom. Here it is worth paying attention to what has long been known to specialists. A large number of partners is not a fact of “coolness”, but a sign of serious psychological problems:
an inferiority complex, problems with the motivational sphere and many others.
