Urolithiasis - diet

The main tool for the prevention of urolithiasis is diet. Even if a kidney stone, for example, has been removed, this does not mean that the disease is gone. It is after such removal that you should pay special attention to your diet, which will help to avoid the formation of stones in the future and contribute to a quick recovery. Urolithiasis: a complex diet is vital.

If we talk more about nutrition with urolithiasis, it should be noted that it is different. It depends on the composition of the stones that formed. They can be of such types - urates, phosphates, oxalates. At the same time, these stones have their own specifics; nutrition in each case is different. The chemical composition of stones today can be determined by modern urology.

Urolithiasis, a diet in which is determined individually in each case, requires careful diagnosis. As a result of it, the type of stones in the urinary tract is determined, based on which a specific diet is prescribed.

Urolithiasis: diet and its definition

How to choose the right food? To do this, imagine the order of the following actions.

  1. From the very beginning, if you suspect urolithiasis, which is confirmed by pain, you need to visit a urologist.

  2. After that, the doctor should prescribe the necessary blood tests, urine tests, as well as an ultrasound examination, on the basis of which the presence of the disease will be confirmed or refuted.

  3. If all examinations indicate the presence of the disease, the doctor will know the chemical composition of the stones or sand.

  4. And only then can you make an accurate diagnosis, prescribe treatment, diet and discuss all preventive measures.

Nutrition for urolithiasis

In addition to the fact that all types of diets with urolithiasis differ from each other, nevertheless, there are some common features of their observance. Here are the important rules to follow:

- it is necessary to limit the consumption of food leading to the formation of stones (spicy, salty, smoked, fried), and also to reduce or better eliminate the use of low-alcohol and alcoholic beverages in general. Such food is unacceptable in the presence of stones or sand of any composition;

- Eat small meals in five meals throughout the day. It is very important not to overeat during urolithiasis so as not to burden the kidneys and the whole organism;

- fluid intake per day should be increased to 2-2.5 liters, if there are no other contraindications. But in the case of cardiovascular diseases, a large amount of drinking is not recommended;

- if urolithiasis, a diet in which it is extremely necessary, is accompanied by another disease that also requires a certain nutrition, they should be carefully balanced. Most often these are problems with the gastrointestinal tract or others.
