The RJ45 pinout is an important step in organizing a local area network. When building a small segment with this problem usually does not arise. Moreover, with most network routers, a pre-prepared twisted pair cable is bundled , and it can immediately be used. But this is convenient when the router is close. But when building a large corporate network , you canβt do without pinouts, and you need to understand this issue well in order to complete all the work at the proper level.
Depending on the connected devices, there are two possible crimping options. In each case, the RJ45 pinout is performed according to its own special rules. The first option is used when connecting two PCs to the network, and the second is to connect the computer to either an active or a passive network router or router.
Let's start with the most common type of connection - a computer and a hub. In this case, two identical crimping options are used, which are respectively called βAβ and βBβ. Each specialist in this profile chooses the option that is easier for him to remember and do, in the future he uses only him. The RJ45 pinout in version βAβ is as follows:
- a pair of brown wires (immediately solid, and then interspersed with white);
- solid orange;
- a pair is blue and then blue with white;
- combined - white with orange;
- a pair of green wires that fit the same way as brown ones.
At the opposite end, all wires go in mirror image, that is, in the reverse order. The second version in the execution of "B" is characterized in that the orange and green wires are interchanged.
To connect computers to each other, a slightly different RJ45 pinout is used. Here, only one crimping option is used, and there is no alternative to it. On the one hand are the wires in the following sequence:
- a pair of brown (first brown, then white with brown);
- solid orange;
- a pair of blue (immediately comes with white inserts);
- orange with white accents;
- green conductors (immediately solid, and then combined).
From the opposite end, everything is in the following order:
- a pair of orange (immediately comes the combined wire);
- white β green;
- a pair of brown ones (the first comes with mixed colors);
- green;
- blue and blue white.
To prepare the conductors and arrange them in the correct order is half the battle. At the end, using a special device, you need to install the RJ45 patch cord. To do this, the following sequence of actions is performed:
- the cable is cut;
- the screen is deleted, if any;
- conductors are arranged in the necessary sequence;
- the tip is put on and is fixed with a crimping tool.
Although outwardly the RJ45 connector is the same everywhere, but electrically this is actually not the case. This must be remembered at the stage of its preparation. If it is incorrect to compress the twisted pair, then the network may not work. In the end, you will have to redo everything all over again, and for these purposes you will need at least 2 more tips, because the old ones after a single crimp are no longer suitable.
