Surely, each owner of a personal computer is familiar with the situation when, after several years (from one to three years, depending on operating conditions), the computer starts to make noise, and you have to figure out how to lubricate the cooler. What could be better than after a difficult day playing an interesting computer game when all the household go to bed! But what is it? The wife grumbles with displeasure, and the child tosses and turns - they are disturbed by the noise of the system unit. What happened? After all, before there was no such noise, but now it is clearly audible. Before identifying the culprit, we make a short mental journey into the body.
One of the properties of a conductor when an electric current passes through it is heating. Its value depends on the resistance of the conductor, current strength, operating frequency and some other factors. Since all the electronic components that make up computer technology are based on interaction with electric current, they emit thermal energy during their work. In this case, it is undesirable and needs a tap, and heating elements need cooling. Ignoring this leads to disruption of normal functioning, up to thermal breakdown and the need for subsequent costly replacement. That is why on many microcircuits (central processor, voltage converters) a metal radiator is installed.
The first models of personal computers used precisely such radiators for cooling components, and the method was called "passive cooling", since heat transfer occurs naturally in it. Soon, however, due to the constant increase in power and performance, passive cooling became unable to dissipate the temperature from the surface of the chips. As a result, fans were installed on the radiators, forcibly creating a blowing air flow (active cooling). Efficiency increased tenfold, but I had to say goodbye to silence forever. From the noise of the fans, it was easy to determine if the computer was turned on. Any fan, sometimes called a cooler (from the English cooler - cooler), is a rotating part, therefore it is subject to gradual wear and tear, and the question "how can a cooler be lubricated" is not at all trivial.
The cooler is arranged quite simply: a metal axis, one end of which is fixed by a retaining ring, and the impeller is placed on the second, creating an air flow. The interaction of the magnetic fields of the spirit of the windings: placed on an axis and a ring around, create a moment of rotation. Axis rotation is possible thanks to bearings - a system familiar to many. The noise of the system unit begins to increase due to the development of lubrication in the bearings, which means that it is time to lubricate the cooler.
A simple, at first glance, question caused serious debate on the forums. Indeed, every user wants to know how to lubricate the cooler. First of all, you need to remember that in no case can you use edible vegetable or animal oils. Although the noise will disappear immediately afterwards, over time the fan bearings may completely stop rotating, disabling its engine. Nevertheless, how to lubricate the cooler? It's simple: everyone has to answer for himself, what would he lubricate the bearings and gears in the watch. Liquid mineral or synthetic oils! Any one is suitable, a few drops of which you can ask a friend of a motorist. What else? You can lubricate the cooler with machine oil, which comes complete with household clippers, as well as electric shavers. Enough 1-2 drops of oil in the bearing, "with a margin" should not be filled.
You should refrain from the intention to use βsolid oilsβ, βlitholsβ and thick grease (β1-13β), because the mass of grease will be squeezed out of the open bearing by centrifugal force and it will not be possible to achieve the desired effect.
