About Maxim Tank

The first information about the university (1914-1921)
The Belarusian State Pedagogical University is called one of the oldest educational institutions. These are not just words. The university has really existed for more than a century. It was created in 1914. The institution was called the Minsk Teachers Institute. First, teachers were trained here.
A few years later they decided to expand the activities of the higher educational institution. In addition to teachers, it began to graduate extracurricular and preschool workers. In connection with such changes, the name was also changed. The university began to be called the Minsk Institute of Public Education.
Loss of independence and further development (1921–1941)
In the early 1920s, the educational institution lost its independence. It became part of the Belarusian State University, became its structural unit. For about 10 years, the newly formed faculty and university followed a single path of development.
In 1931, the situation radically changed. The faculty again became an independent educational institution. Its new name is the Higher State Pedagogical Institute. In 1936, he was named after the famous Soviet writer Alexei Maximovich Gorky, and in 1941 the activities of the university were discontinued due to the outbreak of the Second World War.
A new period in history (from 1944 to the present)
Minsk Pedagogical Institute was not simply closed and forgotten. In 1944, it was decided to resume the work of the educational institution in Minsk. From this moment began the rapid development of the university. This is confirmed by various awards. They were awarded to the Institute for scientific achievements and special successes in the training of teachers.
In 1993, a reorganization took place - the status of a higher educational institution was increased. From that moment it became known as the Belarusian State Pedagogical University. Another significant event in the modern history of educational organization occurred in 1995. The name of Maxim Tank was given to the pedagogical university.

For 100 years of work, the Belarusian State Pedagogical University has been able to achieve a lot. From a small institute, he grew into a leading pedagogical university of the state, gained a good reputation, earned praise from graduates and students. Belarusian Pedagogical University today is:

Training at the institute is conducted in several specialties - “Speech therapy”, “Deaf-and-pedagogy”, “Tiflopedagogika”, “Oligofrenopedagogika”.
