Biography
Oleg Jamsaraevich Yakovlev was born on November 18, 1969. According to one version, Ulan Bator became his hometown, and according to another, Choibalsan (Mongolia). His mother was a Buryat. She worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature. Parents were on a business trip at the time of the birth of their son. They already had two daughters.
When Oleg graduated from first grade, his family returned to the Soviet Union and settled in the village of Selenginsk (Buryatia). It was there that the musical talent of the future artist was manifested. He entered the piano school of art. However, Yakovlev failed to finish it. His family was forced to first move to Angarsk, and then to Irkutsk.
Young Oleg was a good student, was fond of humanitarian subjects and sang in the school choir. In Irkutsk, he entered the theater school, where he graduated with honors with a degree in “puppet theater actor”. However, to be constantly behind the screen was not Yakovlev’s dream. Therefore, he went to Moscow, where he entered GITIS. Its main leader was the legendary Lyudmila Kasatkina. At the same time, he played in the theater of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, considering him “the second father”. Oleg Yakovlev’s creative biography has three successful performances in which he participated. These are “Cossacks”, “Lev Gurych Sinichkin” and “Twelfth Night”.
Music
In the 90s, Yakovlev had the opportunity to try herself as a singer. At that time, the association "Modern Opera" appeared. It is known for productions of musicals and rock operas. This is a rare luck to combine acting and vocals.
In 1995, the Ivanushki International group was formed. From the very beginning, fate led Oleg Yakovlev to this project. First, he starred in the video for the song "Doll". Then, after the unexpected death of Igor Sorin in 1998, Oleg Yakovlev was the lead singer of Ivanushki. As the material for listening, he chose the composition “White Rosehip” from “Juno and Avos”, recorded it and sent the tape to the producer’s center Igor Matvienko.
Fans of the group with curiosity and wariness received a new member of the group. However, after the success of the songs “Poplar Fluff” (1998) and “Bullfinches” (1999), Yakovlev had his own fan club.
Over the 14 years of his active work in the Ivanushki International group, five albums have been recorded and 16 video clips have been shot. The musical project was recognized three times as the best. And his songs and work as a whole were awarded 12 times.
Solo career
In 2012, an unexpected turn takes place in the creative biography of Oleg Yakovlev. The artist decides to start a solo career. He withdrew from the affairs of the group gradually, officially announcing his departure a year later. His place was taken by Ukrainian singer Kirill Turichenko.
For four years of "free swimming" Yakovlev recorded 14 songs and shot 6 video clips. Especially successful were the compositions “6th floor”, “Dance with closed eyes” and “New Year's”. The last tracks were Jeans and Do Not Cry.

The soloists of the popular group were always besieged by crowds of fans. Yakovlev was no exception. His exotic appearance, artistry and clean, as if coming from the heart vocals attracted the attention of millions. However, the personal life of Oleg Yakovlev was arranged. For several years, the musician’s love was the journalist Alexandra Kutsevol. With her, the artist met in St. Petersburg and lived in a civil marriage. Alexandra studied at the faculty of journalism at the time of her acquaintance. For the sake of her beloved, she quit her career and became its producer. According to the artist, only with Alexandra did he feel truly happy.
The couple did not have children. But Yakovlev left two grand-nephews (Garik and Mark) and niece Tatyana (from her older sister).

In parallel with his early work, Yakovlev led an active sports life. From a young age he was involved in athletics and even became a candidate for master of sports. But due to sharp changes in his career, a busy schedule of tours, concerts, the artist left the sport.

Illness and death
At the end of June 2017, the media disseminated information about the hospitalization of Yakovlev. He entered a Moscow clinic in serious condition. According to the results of the examination, the artist was transferred to intensive care. The diagnosis sounded disappointing: bilateral pneumonia. Specialists took all necessary measures, connected the musician to an artificial lung ventilation apparatus. But the next morning, terrible news came upon everyone. Without recovering, in the 48th year of his life, the ex-soloist of "Ivanushek", Yakovlev Oleg Zhamsaraevich, died. The cause of death was cardiac arrest.
The ceremony of farewell to the musician took place on July 1 in the Troekurovsky house Necropolis. His body was cremated. However, the official funeral of Oleg Yakovlev was held only on the 40th day. The ceremony was attended by relatives and friends of the artist.
Friends of Yakovlev claim that alcohol is to blame for his death. After leaving Ivanushki, the musician lost its former popularity. And the solo career was not as successful and dizzy as he expected. More and more friends met Yakovlev drunk. Although before, during concerts and tours, he did not miss the opportunity to treat himself to champagne or cognac. And with a weak liver, strong drinks were strictly forbidden to Yakovlev.
According to friends, it was alcohol, and not the desire to build a solo career or conflicts with colleagues, that caused him to leave Ivanushki. Relatives do not comment on this situation. But experts are sure that pneumonia was only a consequence of cirrhosis of the liver, which has been developing for more than one year. It was he who became the true cause of the death of Oleg Yakovlev. The musician tried to overcome alcohol addiction. But could not.
The grave of Oleg Yakovlev is located at Troekurovsky Cemetery, on the 15th site, at number 664.

- Oleg Yakovlev’s mother was a Buddhist, his father, an ethnic Uzbek, was a Muslim. The artist did not take one of the parties, but chose the Orthodox faith.
