The Leningrad Rock Club opened at the end of the 20th century. His activity was mainly aimed at organizing concerts. A few years ago, the rock club was revived.
About club
Leningrad Rock Club was established in 1981. It was a concert organization. The rock club was not quite typical for this type of organization. Rather, it was a mixture of the Union of Composers with the House of Culture. It had its own membership system, charter and musical advice. The president was Nikolai Mikhailov. Members of the club were many rock bands that became famous. Some of them are successfully working to this day. Following this rock club, other similar organizations began to be created. Initially, it was located at 13 Rubinstein Street (St. Petersburg). Rock club in 2012 changed its habitat. Now it is located on Tsvetochnaya Street, at number 6.
Club history
Attempts to create a rock club (St. Petersburg was one of the pioneers in this direction) were made back in the 70s of the 20th century. He was needed in order to legalize the concert activities of musicians of this direction. Initially, the club included ten rock groups. In 1981, the club was legalized. He was based in the Inter-Union House of Amateur Art. In the same year, the first big concert of Leningrad rockers took place. Nikolai Mikhailov headed the organization in 1982.
Soon, the most prominent members of the club were expelled from the Komsomol. The activities of the rockers were supervised by the KGB, since, according to the authorities, originality and dissent could lead to espionage or dissidentism. Employees of the State Security Committee were present at every concert of the club and watched what was happening there, identifying potentially dangerous, in their opinion, musicians.
Club activities
In addition to organizing concerts, the rock club (St. Petersburg) also held various festivals. The first one took place in 1983. Thanks to these festivals, the public learned about such groups as “Cinema”, “Alice”, “ChayF”, “DDT”, “Civil Defense”, etc. In the early 90's. the rock club held two major promotions. But when the USSR collapsed, such organizations began to gradually close. In their place came nightclubs and discos.
In the early 90s, the Leningrad Rock Club occasionally held concerts. Then a bar was opened in it, and then a music store. And by the beginning of the new century, activity here had completely faded away.

He heads the production center “Music of the 21st Century” and is the administrator of the Tsyurupa Palace of Culture. On the agenda was the revival of the legendary rock club. The former president of the rocker organization, Nikolai Mikhailov, also attended the meeting. The meeting did not lead to anything.
A second revival attempt was made in 2010. Then it was planned to hold a concert. He had to pass in another, no less famous rock club called Money-Honey. But this initiative was also unsuccessful.
A revival took place in 2012. The rock club settled in a building on Tsvetochnaya Street.

"Mani-Hani" every evening invites spectators to rock concerts, events, theme parties and discos until the morning. At the bar you can eat and drink tasty and inexpensively. Entrance to the cult club is free on weekdays. Here you can go all out, bring friends with you, or meet new interesting people.
The first floor is decorated in a cowboy style. Guitars and pistols hang on the walls. The furniture here is comfortable and wooden. The ceiling is decorated with lamps in the form of cartwheels. On the second floor there is a concert hall that has recently opened. It is decorated differently, more modernly, but no less stylishly than the first floor. The concert hall is designed for 250 people. Fashionable DJs, rock, electro and hard bands perform here.
