Not so long ago there was a novelty from the Izhevsk arms factory - the Baikal pistol, which is an exact copy of the combat PM. This model has increased power, there is a corresponding logo in the form of a star on the handle, as well as an updated assembly in the export version. This weapon consists of a main unit (air cylinder, valve, magazine) and additional elements - packaging or holsters.
History of creation
The Baikal MR-654K pistol is an exact pneumatic copy of a similar combat unit. The release of gas-cylinder modification began in 1997. Since government orders for the supply of pistols were significantly reduced, Izhevsk gunsmiths were forced to arrange the manufacture of pneumatics, which was in great demand at that time.
During the release, the Baikal pistol was constantly improved and acquired several original modifications that differ externally and constructively. The product is a convenient tool for beginner shooters, due to its simplicity and convenience. The exterior of the gun, reliability, decent quality of mechanisms in the traditions of combat PM contributed to its popularity among amateurs and craftsmen who can enjoy dynamic shooting.
Appearance
In the production of a pneumatic gun, spare parts from a military analog are used. This solution makes the gas cylinder version as recognizable and similar to a military prototype.
The barrel in the muzzle is slightly cut off, which gives the weapon solidity and similarity to the popular caliber of 9 millimeters. The recognizable feature that the Baikal air gun has (photo below) is the grip on the handle. And in some models, it additionally has a five-pointed star.
Realism and similarity to the military analogue of the gas cylinder model is given by a masterfully made copy of the clip eject button. In addition, blown bolt holders are provided on the gun. The modified unit is made of military steel, is in demand now.
Features:
- narrow handle with an overlay;
- the dimensions of the table in the muzzle are 10 mm in diameter;
- cylinder tightening is performed in a ringless manner;
- the pinch latch in the charged mode does not protrude beyond the clip;
- polished shutter frame.

Pistol "Baikal MR-654K": characteristics
Despite the similarity with military weapons, the pneumatic model has certain design differences. The trigger mechanism is identical to the original, but does not have a striker. For the functioning of this modification, cartridges of 8 and 12 grams are used. The cartridge is designed for ball bullets, the mass of the gun without a carbon dioxide tank and charge is 0.73 kg.

Equipment
The store, valve block and spray can in this model are formed into a single working unit. The clip is placed in the handle, as in the combat version. The rifling in the bore is polygonal, the mechanism allows firing both in self-cocking mode and with preliminary training. In the first case, the downhill effort is doubled.
A check fuse on the shutter allows you to protect the owner during operation of the weapon. Air gun "Baikal MR-654K", the characteristics of which are as close as possible to the combat version, is equipped with a valve block that controls the flow of gas, containing a device for holding the balloon and its puncture.
To use tanks with a capacity of 8 grams, you will need to install a special adapter. Correction of a static front sight and rear sight is not provided, as well as the base for mounting additional optics. Multiple-charge weapons are provided thanks to a spring feeder located in the store. This design is not designed for soft lead charges that are prone to deformation. Ignoring this point can lead to jamming of the gun and a hazardous situation.
Operational Features
The Baikal air gun is operated, the photo of which is posted above, as follows:
- A filled cartridge is placed in the store and a gas cylinder is screwed in. Then the fuse is retracted.
- Moving with a loaded weapon is undesirable. Targets and other equipment are prepared in advance.
- Pneumatics are transported in a discharged state with a cylinder unscrewed and an empty magazine.
The product from Izhevsk gunsmiths, like any other mechanism, requires prevention and minor repairs. Most often this is due to the replacement of gaskets and worn springs. Seals must be carefully removed from the seat nests, preventing their deformation and depressurization. To eliminate gas leaks, you can use silicone oil, which does not destroy the polymer.
To replace the return spring, you will have to partially disassemble the weapon, and for manipulating the supply element of the store, it will need to be completely disassembled.
Maintenance and care
To lubricate the mechanisms, the Baikal gun will need to be partially disassembled. This is done as follows:
- the store disconnects;
- trigger guard retracts left and down;
- the shutter must be pulled all the way;
- it rises behind and unhooks in front;
- the shutter is dismantled through the receiver line;
- the return spring is removed.
Complete disassembly is recommended only if necessary (excessive contamination or wetting of the weapon). After preparation, all parts of the gun are wiped with an oiled cloth, and friction elements are lubricated with gun grease. Small mechanisms are cleaned with a toothbrush, and the barrel is made of steel with a polymer-coated steel ramrod.
Advantages
The gun in question has several advantages. Among them are the following:
- the most approximate imitation of military weapons;
- simplicity, reliability and safety of the structure;
- high-quality materials, a high rate of rate of fire, multi-charge;
- ergonomics, basic maintenance and the ability to fire without special skills.
Has this gun and certain flaws. The rifled barrel is not very suitable for firing steel balls. In addition, users note not very high accuracy and a weak dispenser system. Also, this modification does not provide for the possibility of installing additional optics.
