Many listeners and lovers of Russian rock know and appreciate the work of one of Russia's most popular rock bands, “Night Snipers”. She was formed on August 19, 1993 in St. Petersburg as a result of acquaintance, and also thanks to the efforts and advancement in the musical work of Diana Arbenina and Svetlana Surganova. The group continues to declare its existence, delighting fans with new albums.
First steps to success
Initially, the first line-up of the Night Snipers group included an acoustic duet of two friends - Diana (vocals, guitar) and Svetlana (vocals, guitar, violin). The first time they performed together at the Russian festival of art song. At that time, Diana lived in Magadan. She had to leave the duet and leave St. Petersburg. She returned to Magadan to study. Following her in November 1993, her friend and partner Svetlana Surganova went. The duo of two talents has been restored.
For six months they performed at the Imperial casino, also at the University of Magadan, where Diana Arbenina was studying at that time. Their musical group gained popularity by playing at various evening events, at home, in apartment buildings in Magadan. Then they got their name “Night Snipers.” They also created their first audio recordings, which are rare for fans of this group.
Then they took part in the regional round of the Russian student music contest 1994. Then the group went to Samara to complete the final performance on the tour. After they returned to St. Petersburg, where they found their electronic line-up and performed at various events in well-known St. Petersburg clubs, such as White Rabbit, Tonnik, Ambush, and Romantic.
Then the group visited many festivals, one of them is known as “Indian Summer”. “Night snipers” performed at the twelve-hour musical show of the city “Russian Modern”.
The debut of the team “Night Snipers” was first held abroad in 1993. The group took part in a student festival in Denmark. After one of the informal publishers, “Sleep Ded” published the first author’s poetry collections by Diana Arbenina and Svetlana Surganova: “Rubbish” and “Target”.
First team
The group "Night Snipers" acquired its first electronic squad in February 1997. They continued to give both acoustic concerts and performances with electronic sound. The composition of the group "Night Snipers" at that time consisted of musicians of various rock groups. It:
- D. Dulitsky - solo-guitarist of the musical group "Vacuum";
- Yu. Degtyarev - rhythm section, member of the SKA group (Union of the Commercial Avant-Garde);
- A. Ivanov - guitarist of the St. Petersburg group "Vacuum";
- The main members of the group are D. Arbenin and S. Surganov.
Popularity
The group “Night Snipers” got its first popularity on the Internet thanks to journalist Willy Pshenichny. He posted on his website several songs of the collective. With the support of the musicians of the Kuzya Band band, then the Night Snipers managed to record their musical works in the famous studios of St. Petersburg.
The band’s music was distributed on cassettes. Their first album was unofficial, released under the live version.
The band’s first official album, “Night Snipers, was recorded in 1998 at the St. Petersburg zoo, entitled“ A drop of tar in a barrel of honey. ” It was released on cassettes thanks to group administrator R. Sungatullin.
The second release of the songs was included in the official baby-talk album, which was released in 1999 and included live and new studio recordings.
Big scene
Svetlana Loseva, being the producer of the group, achieved the sound of songs on radio and television. In 1999, Night Snipers performed for the first time on a large stage in Moscow. At the same time, the group has its own personal website on the Internet. Diana Arbenina
Diana Sergeevna Arbenina (Kulachenko) - was born in the city of Volozhin (Belarus) on July 8, 1974. Her parents were journalists, at work they moved with Diana to the Far North of Russia. Further, her family periodically moved to the villages of Kolyma and Chukotka. There Arbenina and received her first musical education.
Diana wrote her first original songs in 1991. Her most famous and popular composition “Frontier” was written in the same year. Even in this period, such works as "Tosca", "And again the roads are dark", "Evening in the Crimea", "Only the noise on the river" and others were written. Diana limited herself to amateur acoustic performances. She participated in various events and student competitions.
In 1993, Arbenina proclaimed herself the leader of the acoustic duo “Night Snipers”. She is the author of many songs released by her group. Over the years of passion for music, Diana wrote more than two hundred songs and about one hundred and twenty verses. In connection with the withdrawal of Surganova in 2002 from the composition of “Night Snipers”, Arbenina became the only vocalist in the group.
First tours and tours
In 2000, the group went on tour to Germany, where they recorded their next album, "Frontier." The song "31st Spring" from it gets on "Our Radio". Thanks to which, in the fall of the same year, the group becomes popular, gains all-Russian fame and signs a contract with Real Records.
In 2001, “Night Snipers” went on a tour of Russia and the CIS countries. Their concerts were shown and broadcast on famous television channels and radio. Then, in December 2001, during the performance, the Barmeley club recorded a new album, Live, in video and audio formats.
In 2002, the composition of the group changed significantly. A. Ponomarev becomes the new producer instead of I. Kopylov. In 2002, the next tsunami album was recorded in Kiev. With him, “Night snipers performed in Israel. And in December 2002, as already mentioned, Svetlana Surganova left the group and founded her musical project called Surganova and Orchestra. After Svetlana left, the group got its second name among the fans - “Diana Arbenina and Night Snipers”.
Over the long years of the group’s existence, keyboardists appeared in 2003. A. Samarin came first, a little later A. Sadykov pulled himself up. Their arrival helped to achieve a more extensive and powerful sound of the group both in recording studios and on stage.
The most grandiose performance of the Night Snipers musical group took place on February 23 at the arena of the Luzhniki sports complex. In May 2003, the next album, Trigonometry, was recorded at an acoustic concert. His release took place in October. On this occasion, a concert was organized at the Gorbunov Palace of Culture. The group celebrated its decade at the Bi-2 club.
New albums and achievements
The next album was released in the fall of 2004 under the name SMS. In the same year, Fedor Vasilyev became the bass player of the group. An important event in the existence of the musical group “Night Snipers” occurred in 2005 - Diana Arbenina became the winner of the Russian Triumph Prize. After that, the group performed on the Odd Warrior project along with Bi-2 in Japan.
In 2007, the group released the album "Bonnie and Clyde", which was recorded in Moscow. Shura from the Bi-2 team participated in arranging the songs. Then the group goes on a tour, visits more than fifty cities of Russia, CIS countries, America.
The fifth album, Army 2009, which was released in 2009, was recorded in America. The group almost never performed, they worked hard to create an album. Then "Night Snipers" gave a concert at the festival "Army 2009".
In 2012, in September, the group released a new album, "4". His main hits were the songs "Bunin", "Google", "What we did last summer." The team traveled not only to Russia, but also to almost all of Europe, and traveled to the United States.
In June 2015, Night Snipers gave a concert at the Jazz Manor festival. In July of this year, the group opened the festival "Invasion". Then they recovered on an autumn tour of Russia. “Night snipers” took part in charity concerts dedicated to helping children from dysfunctional families. They performed at the Maxidrom festival.
A large discography of the group was presented at the 21st year of their existence, and in February 2016 they released the next album "Only lovers will survive." The group “Night Snipers” includes Chigirin Maxim, who has been the chief stage technician since 2015.
Soon they go on a tour where they present their album in 75 cities of Russia, America and Europe. In 2017, Night Snipers visited Israel, Moldova, and Spain. For the release of the next album to the 25th anniversary of its existence, the group took a short break.
