The hood is an important part of any vehicle. Under the cover of this part is the "heart" of the machine. That is why every car owner thinks about the hood lock. In this case, a bonnet lock is an excellent solution.
Problems and advantages of locks
The hood lock is an excellent protection for the car. All existing devices of this type have several common characteristics and differences.
Such a lock is an important and necessary system, especially if an alarm is provided in this device. After all, when the siren is closed under the hood, the attacker feels insecure. That is why the hood locks are in great demand among motorists, as they provide this trick. This highlight for many of us may seem insufficient importance, however, for the owner of the car - this is a real trick.
But in addition to the positive characteristics, any hood lock has its drawbacks, namely:
- These devices need to fine-tune the work that occurs during their installation. Very rarely, the operation of a lock model is impossible without the presence of certain additional elements that are not included in the package of this protection system.
- The hood lock is equipped with burglary resistance, the degree of which is slightly lower than that of transmission type locks. The resistance indicator is 5 minutes. At the locks on the gearbox, this figure is 15 minutes.
- On average, hood locks, in comparison with transmission locks, are eternal sources of problems during the operation of a car. Especially in frosty weather.
Varieties of hood locks
Depending on the internal structure, all models of existing hood locks can be divided into two groups:
- A mechanical hood lock, which is an important element of car protection. You can control such a system using a key or a toggle switch. This device has a simple design with a minimum of parts. Due to this, the mechanical hood lock is a reliable and unpretentious protection of the car. However, this system has its drawbacks. The main disadvantage of a mechanical lock is the inconvenience of operation. Also, this mechanism requires periodic lubrication of the drive cables. Although if the owner rarely looks under the hood of the car, then installing a mechanical hood lock is the right solution.
- Electromechanical hood lock . This hood lock is controlled using a keychain. Also, this device can be integrated into an alarm system. In addition, the electromechanical hood lock is convenient to use, as it works automatically in case of setting or removing the car from the security system. However, at the same time, these devices are quite complex in their design and require competent installation in a car protection system.
Today, many countries, including Russia, are engaged in the production of hood locks. English, French and German hood protection locks are the most reliable devices of this type.
