How to sew a skirt in tiers

Summer, in addition to other undoubted joys, is also pleasant because it allows you to get by with a minimum of clothes, and all items of the summer wardrobe can be sewn independently for one or two evenings, moreover, they are unlikely to be inferior in quality to the ones purchased, and say in their appearance that they were sewn at home in just a few hours is rather difficult. The simplest products in order to start sewing at home are skirts: they consist of few parts, for sewing basic models it is required to make very few seams. In order to sew a skirt, it is not necessary to have a pattern at all - a simple scheme of skirt patterns is enough , based on which it will be possible to make simple calculations and build your own pattern. No wonder the first thing that we were taught in sewing lessons is how to sew a skirt.

Over the past few seasons, long-sleeved skirts, most often floor-length, have firmly entered into fashion. They are both worn separately and are part of trendy summer dresses. Their flying silhouette makes the figure visually slimmer and taller and allows you to feel lightness and coolness in any heat, allowing the body to breathe and cool with every step. Also, a tiered skirt, a pattern for sewing of which is not required, is very simple to manufacture, so it is not at all necessary to purchase it for significant funds - it can be easily and quickly sewed at home.

Before you sew a skirt, you need to decide on the fabric. Summer thin cotton materials are best suited, starting from a translucent cambric and ending with a thin denim, but you can take any others. Such a skirt does not need to choose any special materials - the fabric does not even have to be natural, since it is a free product, and the skirt will not fit to the body, however, breathing fabrics for the summer are still always preferable. Naturally, for sewing a skirt it is very important that the fabric is either crumpled or, on the contrary, reaped, so that the finished product in the sock looks neat. A drawing can either be absent or be, and absolutely anything, from classic prints to ethnic motifs. Long skirts with a color transition look very interesting and relevant when the shades of each tier consistently change from lighter to dark or vice versa, as well as when contrasting colors alternate in them. You can also alternate different textures of the fabric, for example, lace and opaque material.

How to sew a skirt in tiers

The amount of fabric will depend on which silhouette of the skirt you choose, so before you sew the skirt, you need to make calculations. Recently, the most relevant models are long-sleeved skirts with a half-sun silhouette, with or without yoke. To make a coquette, you can take 15-20 centimeters from any pattern of a straight skirt of your size with a minimum of details. It will be simpler further: the tiers of such a skirt are rectangles of a given length and width. The difference in their length depends on how many tiers there will be in the skirt. The calculation is based on the principle that every 25 centimeters the width of the skirt should increase by about one and a half times. So, for a skirt with a yoke of 15 centimeters, three tiers and a floor length, each subsequent tier will be approximately one and a half times wider than the previous one, and the length of the first one and a half times greater than the transverse size of the bottom of the yoke.

Tiers and coquette can be sewn in several ways, depending on the type of fabric selected. For example, if you took a dense fabric, then the seams are made standard, and for light flying materials you can choose the method of overlapping stitching - the gathered edges of thin fabric will become an additional element of decor. Naturally, in this case, before you sew a skirt, the edges of each tier must be processed. You can intersect strips of fabric with lace ribbons - you get a very beautiful ethnic-style skirt .
