The history of the Gomel State College of Railway Transport of the Belarusian Railways began in October 1878 with the opening of a local technical school. Three years later, the first 11 graduates of the institution began working on the railway. The number of students gradually increased; by 1922, 35-40 people were enrolled in the school. By 1924, the school received the status of a technical school, in the same year a girl student first appeared in it - V.I. Chernonog, who studied at the mechanical department.
In the years 1932-33. In the technical school they began to train signalmen and carriages; until 1941, more than 250 specialists of this profile were trained. During the war, almost all students and teachers defended the country, so classes were suspended until December 1943.

Since the institution is highly specialized, it functioned well even in times of crisis during the collapse of the Soviet Union. By 2000, up to 250 students could study at the same time. In 2007, the college was renamed to college, and in 2015 the institution was merged with the Belarusian State University of Transport and has the status of its branch.
Education after grade 9
