Our society has a stereotype that an automatic transmission is cool, and a mechanical (manual) transmission is significantly inferior to it. These beliefs are not always true. Each of the modifications has its advantages and disadvantages.
For example, an automatic transmission is inferior to mechanics in a number of positions. The mechanics transmit torque more economically and allow you to get more power from the engine. The parts of a mechanical box do not wear out so quickly and can be easily repaired. The disadvantages of manual transmission control are also many. First, driving in a manual mode is much more difficult. Secondly, the choice of a gear suitable for a particular traffic situation is often carried out intuitively. Thirdly, elements of the clutch mechanism are subject to more wear. In addition, manual control often leads to engine overloads, and its repair increases operating costs.

It has its own characteristics of operation and automatic transmission. Of course, driving a car on automation is very easy. Car owners living in cities are well aware of this. They have no problems with overloads, and the engine always works in the right mode. However, when transmitting torque, significant losses of power are frequent, and sometimes it feels like a kick-box. But you can put up with this. But to make the acceleration of such a car to the maximum speed is simply impossible, because the automation "does not agree" with this intention of the driver. Also, in case of breakdown of automation, it will be very expensive to pay for its repair. Lower and the strength of an automatic transmission (compared with a mechanical one).
Which is better: automatic transmission or manual transmission? Ladies and drivers who recently got behind the wheel, it is better to choose automatic transmission control. This is especially important if they drive through the streets of a
big city and often get stuck in traffic jams. Residents of rural areas and reckless men living both in the city and outside the city, it is better to choose a more complex manual transmission control.
The reliability of these options is approximately the same. Even though automation contains many parts that break relatively often, most of them, nevertheless, are not subject to rapid wear (with careful driving). Timely oil change and careful operation are the conditions necessary to ensure that the automatic transmission does not fail for a long time. The instructions attached to the car must be observed with regard to the quality of the oil, the conditions for its replacement.
As for the mechanical box, in spite of its great strength, the drive, disc, basket and clutch linings of the car “burn” even with very careful driving. Usually, without replacing the pads, you can drive no more than eighty thousand kilometers. Each time, switching speeds and squeezing the clutch in countless changing road conditions, the driver involuntarily creates circumstances favorable for the failure of one or another part of the clutch mechanism. Therefore, it is simply impossible to answer clearly the question of which gearbox is better! Choose what you like! But remember: so that you have a working automatic transmission, the instructions for its use must be strictly observed!
