"Skoda Yeti" - the advantages and disadvantages

The Czech miracle called "Skoda Yeti" appeared on the world market recently. The manufacturer himself positioned his new product as a crossover, but in reality this is something between a station wagon and an urban SUV. Despite such strange features, the car was widely used in Russia. Many car owners have already managed to evaluate all its features, and today we will consider what Skoda Yeti has disadvantages, as well as what advantages it has.

And right on to the benefits. The first thing that attracts the Skoda Yeti in the car is the configuration and prices. There are more than enough crossover options (3 gasoline engines of choice and 3 transmissions are offered on the Russian market). Moreover, each customer can optionally choose an electronic device or an elite skin. If you count, you get about 18 modifications of the SUV. The price of a car (740 thousand rubles) is also attractive, but the cost of luxury equipment (almost 1.5 million rubles) is already clearly overstated. But all the same, the build quality of the Czech is much higher and the Volga Automobile Plant has something to strive for. It is also worth noting the good protection of the bottom from mechanical damage - the engine compartment is reliably protected by an aluminum shield. Although he is unlikely to save from water hammer, but more on that later.

What are the “Skoda Yeti” flaws?

Unfortunately, the novelty also has flaws. Let's start with the body. The first flaw that catches your eye is the bare roof. There is clearly not enough spoiler that would not only improve aerodynamics, but also clean the rear window of dirt (thanks to the same aerodynamic flow). In general, the aerodynamics could not be adjusted even by the last restyling of the Škoda Yeti (2013). A test drive showed that after 200-300 kilometers on domestic roads, the car becomes completely dirty and ugly.

But this is not all the features of the new Skoda Yeti crossover. Deficiencies lie in the inside of the machine. The first thing that meets the driver is the front panel trim. By its properties, it is very hard and unpleasant to the touch. The same trend is observed in the rear of the machine (acoustic shelf). The “Skoda Yeti” also has drawbacks on the center console: the climate control buttons are clearly reduced. The interior lighting is present, only for some reason it is not placed on the visors (a trifle, but it would be nice). The head restraints in the driver's seat are very tight and poorly regulated. And one more, the last minus is the poor protection of the engine from water hammer. Normal protection is installed only near the windshield. The rest of it remains open before puddles and rain.

Conclusion

Looking at the ratio of pluses and minuses, we can say for sure that the Skoda Yeti crossover needs great improvements. A really high-quality model will not even appear in a year. Although if you compare it with domestic counterparts, then Russian models have someone to take an example from. In the future, you can expect a more advanced crossover.
