The Gubkin Institute in Moscow is one of the most prestigious technical universities in the capital, which for many years has occupied worthy places in the ranking of Russian higher educational institutions. History - from creation to the present day

In 1920, the oil faculty was first established on the basis of the Moscow Mining Academy. It was he who became the source of the creation of a modern university of oil and gas. In 1930, the academy was disbanded, and the Moscow Petroleum Institute was created on its basis.

Gubkin University

At the time of 1941, on the basis of the future Institute. Gubkin functioned 29 departments, as well as over 16 laboratories and 26 special. offices, in the courtyard a training derrick was created.

In 1958, the educational institution was renamed, it was given the name of the organizer of Soviet petroleum geology, and later the status of the academy. The name has changed more than once, but in 2010 the institution was awarded the honorary status of the university, which today occupies 5th place in the ranking of Russian universities. There are branches in the cities of Tashkent and Orenburg.
