Private universities are an alternative to public universities, which are still very skeptical in eastern Europe. In fact, the cost of studying in private universities is often not much more expensive than studying on a contract basis, and the benefits and opportunities after such universities are much higher. Kiev International University is not an exception, which is described in detail in this article.
History, goals, structure
The university was founded in 1994 on the initiative of Professor Khachatur Vladimirovich Khachaturian, who proposed the creation of a higher educational institution to train professional diplomats. The main task of Kiev International University is to prepare the political, economic and scientific elite of Ukraine. Now at the university in different directions 4800 people study. The permanent staff consists of 190 highly qualified professors, and practitioners in the field of jurisprudence, international relations, political science, etc. often come to lectures. Lecturers work in the Parliament of Ukraine, in embassies and international firms.
Training is conducted at 20 departments. According to students, the material base of Kiev International University can only be envied: a class for video conferences with foreign scientists, a courtroom, psychological, biological and chemical laboratories, special rooms for studying foreign languages, a forensic training ground, television and radio studios, a modern gym - all components comfortable and quality training.
Faculties and Tuition
Classes at Kiev International University (KiMU) are held in two languages - Ukrainian and English. Even at faculties with the Ukrainian language of instruction, English is mandatory. Also, the advantage of this educational institution is the opportunity to study exotic, oriental languages - Arabic, Chinese, etc.
The university prepares bachelors in the following areas: international relations, journalism, philology, computer science, art, law, construction and architecture, political science, tourism, pharmacy, management and administration, dentistry, economics, entrepreneurship, psychology. At Kiev International University, the cost of training varies from 14500 to 38500 hryvnia per year, depending on the faculty. The most expensive areas are related to international relations, the most budget ones - to the economic area. Distance learning usually costs 5-6 thousand less than full-time.

International relations - this is the direction because of which, in fact, KiMU appeared. Studying at this faculty is very prestigious and very difficult. You can specialize in public communication, diplomacy, the economy of international tourism, international law, international information, etc.
All these areas involve contact with different countries, internships in China, the Middle East, the countries of the European Union and others, participation in international competitions (in which students of the Kiev University of International Relations have repeatedly won prizes).
Admission Rules
Ukrainians enter the university according to the results of the ZNO (necessary subjects can be found on the official website of the university), creative contests or introductory conversation (if necessary). For admission to the magistracy, you must pass an entrance exam that tests knowledge of the subject of study and a foreign language.
Foreigners or stateless persons can enter the Kiev International University according to the results of the introductory competition, passing exams in subjects determined by the rector. Foreigners must have a certificate of completion of high school in their country. A motivation letter, which plays an important role in admission, must also be attached to the list of required documents. The cost of training for foreigners is the same as for citizens of Ukraine. Discounts and scholarships can be received by students who enter on the basis of certain international agreements and / or refugees.
Accommodation - price and conditions
The total area of the hostels of Kiev International University is 20 thousand square meters. The hostels are located in three blocks: on Oksamytova Street, Lvovskaya and Verkhovinnaya. According to the student of the university, living conditions are not bad. Each building is equipped with wireless Internet, washing machines, a kitchen, necessary furniture, uninterrupted water supply and 24-hour security. Blocks are located near the university and metro stops, there are also supermarkets and cafes nearby. Prices for 2,3,4-bed rooms vary from 500 to 1,500 hryvnia per month. You can also rent an apartment in Kiev with a friend or yourself, but it will certainly cost more.
University College
College of Kiev International University was organized in 2011; prepares junior specialists in such areas as law, journalism, tourism, economics, entrepreneurship, trade, stage art, engineering, pharmacy.
Study lasts from 3 to 4 years, depending on the direction. Good college education gives a guarantee of admission to KiMU under the reduced program (from the third year), which, undoubtedly, is a plus. Also in college, you can learn foreign languages at a high level, using modern technology. You can enter such a college after the 9th or 11th grade, having successfully passed the entrance exams.
Lyceum
The new brainchild of KiMU - lyceum - offers students in grades 4-11 to develop their talents, based on the main principles of functioning of KiMU. This is the study of languages according to the author’s program of Khachaturian Kh.V., individualization of study, vocational training, development of creativity, work in teams, etc.
The lyceum is divided into specialized classes: international relations, philological, medical, technical, social and humanitarian, art. Lyceum students can participate in clubs (diplomatic, psychological, intellectual) and go to various circles. Applicants say that the cost of training depends on the decision of the directorate. In addition, there is no guarantee of admission to KiMU.
Kiev International University is an elite institution, and not everyone can afford to study at it. But in return for a decent fee (although it is an order of magnitude smaller than in the same England and France or even Poland), students receive a diploma and knowledge that will be quoted on the European and world labor market.
