One of them in our country is the Samara State Agricultural Academy.
The end of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century
At the end of the 19th century, agriculture played a very significant role in the Samara province. For the further development and prosperity of this industry, people were required who would have the necessary knowledge. However, no one could transmit them to the inhabitants of the province, because there was no specialized educational institution. This situation was corrected in 1899 since the opening of the agricultural school.
At first, the educational institution worked in a rented building. There were about 10 teachers. In 1903, the construction of the educational building was completed, which means that the agrarian school has its own building. Only young men studied at the institution. The first girl among the students appeared in 1918.
The emergence of higher education
In 1918, a very significant event for the history of the modern Samara State Agricultural Academy took place, which entailed a transformation. A classic university was opened in the city with medical, physical, mathematical and historical-philological faculties. A year later, an agricultural department appeared in it. It immediately interested residents of Samara. When the enrollment of students began, several hundred people expressed a desire to receive higher education.
In 1920, the agronomy faculty was merged with the agricultural school. Thanks to this event, the university department had a previously absent material base - land for household crops, an apiary, a garden plot. In the same year, the Agronomy Faculty received the status of an independent Samara Agricultural Institute.
Further way
Established in 1920, the Samara Agricultural Institute overcame difficulties throughout its entire existence. At the beginning of his activity, he faced a civil war, devastation, famine. All universities in Samara were closed due to the fact that they could not adapt to new conditions. Only the agricultural institute did not break. A worthy university was able to go through the years of World War II.
The period of the 60s for the institute is a time of prosperity and further stable activity. The university had 5 faculties, a rich library, a training and experimental farm, 5 dormitories. More and more people with academic degrees and ranks appeared in the teaching staff. In the 90s, the institute was given a higher academy status.
University today
Now the Samara State Agricultural Academy operates in Kinel. This is the name of the city - the administrative center of the Kinelsky district of the Samara region. The Academy is a complex of buildings and structures. She owns 9 educational buildings, 8 dormitories, 2 sports complexes, training and production workshops, a greenhouse, etc. In the buildings where the educational process is conducted, there are 5 faculties of the Samara State Agricultural Academy:
- biotechnology and veterinary medicine;
- agronomic;
- engineering;
- technological;
- economic.
The special property of the educational institution is a plot of 8004.94 hectares. It refers to agricultural land. At it, Academy staff conduct experiments as part of the university’s research activities, and students undergo practical training.
Faculty of Biotechnology and Veterinary Medicine
At the Samara State Agricultural Academy (SGAA), the faculty of biotechnology and veterinary medicine is located in several buildings - in educational building No. 2, as well as in clinical, anatomical buildings, in the building of the Samara Reference Center. Only 3 specialties are offered - “biology”, “veterinary medicine”, “livestock farming”.
The faculty owns a vivarium. It contains chickens, geese, horses, pigs, cattle. The division also has modern laboratories. Here are some of them for example - a comprehensive dairy laboratory, operating room, microbiology laboratory.
Agronomy and engineering faculties
For agricultural education, you can enter the Samara State Agricultural Academy in the agronomy faculty in such specialties as "agronomy", "gardening", "land management and cadastres", "forestry". This structural unit is located in the main educational building. For lectures, 5 large classrooms for 75 and 100 people were allocated.
