Itching during menstruation

Unfortunately, at some point, many of the women are faced with such a nuisance as itching during menstruation. As for the reason, it is often not possible to identify it. That is why in case you have a similar kind of symptom, be sure to contact a specialist. Particular attention requires itching during menstruation, which is observed over several menstrual cycles. This symptom is characteristic of many infectious diseases of the reproductive system. In order to exclude such reasons, you need to pass some tests. Of course, you should not self-medicate. After all, such methods often cause significant harm to a weakened body.

The reasons that you have itching and burning before menstruation or during their period may be: urogenital candidiasis or, as they say, thrush, trichomoniasis, violation of hygiene rules, genital herpes or papillomas, various colpitis, as well as a common allergy some types of pads, tampons, and the like. You can add inflammatory processes in the appendages and directly to the uterus, diabetes mellitus and other somatic diseases to this list.

It is impossible to diagnose such ailments in absentia. A compulsory examination by a doctor is required. As a rule, a specialist prescribes such procedures after the patient has completed her period. At the initial examination, the doctor can detect signs of colpitis. In this case, abundant leucorrhoea, hyperemia of the walls of the vagina are observed. As for smears, a huge number of white blood cells, fungi, trichomonads and much more can be found in them. If we are talking about a banal thrush, then in this case, profuse leucorrhoea is most often curdled in nature. In addition, itching with candidiasis appears long before menstruation, and then increases significantly. The same is observed at night, after sexual intercourse or the use of a large number of sweets, spicy foods. If a woman has trichomonas colpitis, then vaginal discharge (white) has not only a yellowish or green tint, but also a rather unpleasant odor. Specialist in special situations appoints an ultrasound examination. Itching of the external labia often indicates an allergy to any food.

How to cure itching during menstruation? First of all, I would like to say that the treatment in this case depends, first of all, on the diagnosis. Candidiasis, for example, can be eliminated by taking antifungal drugs. As for the same trichomoniasis, a similar disease can be cured with the help of metronidazole. If we talk about non-specific colpitis, then you can get rid of them with disinfectant drugs. Some diseases require a more detailed study, the selection of appropriate treatment. Sometimes it is complex and includes not only antispasmodics, but also antibiotics, and even vitamins. If the reason that a woman has itching during menstruation is the presence of inflammatory processes in the uterus and appendages, then only treatment courses can be few. The specialist can prescribe rehabilitation measures, for example, mud baths and physiotherapy. As for erosion and other pathological processes that are possible in the uterus, the laser vaporization method is used.

Itching during menstruation always has its own reasons. However, if no diseases were detected during the examination, you should pay attention to the hygiene products that you use. Such symptoms may indicate that this or that brand of tampons, pads and even gels for intimate hygiene is not suitable for you. In such a situation, it is enough to change these funds to others. In addition to all this, it is not recommended to take a bath or go to the pool, saunas and baths during menstruation.
