Dodge Magnum - this is the car that is able to surprise many with its formidable appearance, a very powerful and diverse line of engines. It replaced the Dodge Intrepid in 2003 and was produced until 2008. What is most surprising, this car was originally designed as a patrol car. The police version of the Dodge included a more powerful generator, an improved suspension system with shock absorbed brakes, and a new battery with increased capacity. At the patrol Magnum, the locks of the rear doors were blocked, so the windows never dropped in them. But the civilian version of the Dodge was no less surprising to the public. What is so unique about the American Dodge Magnum? Reviews and review of this car later in our article.
American car design
The appearance of the American Magnum is very impressive. The design of the car was made in a purely American style: large optics, a massive front bumper and a wide grille. At some points, the Dodge is reminiscent of its pickup counterparts in appearance.
True, Magnum was stylized as a passenger car. The lower part of the bumper contains a pair of round fog lights with a black rectangular insert. It is impossible not to see the massive grille, which occupied part of the front bumper of the Dodge. A large company emblem is located in the center of the company cruciform lattice. The hood lines successfully follow the contours of the radiator mask and make the front of the car even more athletic. But, despite all this massiveness, it is very difficult to call the modern design of the American Dodge Magnum station wagon. And this is not surprising, because it was designed back in 2003, although for its age this station wagon was a very competitive car in the US domestic market.
Dimensions and capacity
In fact, the “Dodge Magnum” is the same “Chrysler” of the 300th series, only slightly retouched and converted into a station wagon, at least this can be seen by its dimensions. The external dimensions of the Dodge Magnum station wagon are as follows: length - 5022 mm, width - 1882 mm, height - 1481 mm.

Thanks to its five-meter length, this car has become one of the largest station wagons in its class. In general, American manufacturers love to make such huge cars. And not only "Rain" is engaged in the production of large machines. Chevrolet, General Motors, Ford and many other well-known concerns of the United States until recently produced just such long and wide cars. Compared to the graceful “Europeans,” they seemed real giants. In addition, each of these models was characterized by a large and voluminous trunk. Dodge Magnum was no exception. Owner reviews say that thanks to such a capacious luggage compartment (2027 liters with the rear seats folded down) this station wagon is suitable for transporting not only things, but also small building materials.
Interior
Inside, the Dodge Magnum is no different from its counterparts in the US market - the same spacious interior, direct torpedo without any “twists”, slightly hard plastic and a multi-function steering wheel with remote control buttons.
The dashboard of the car has a very unusual design - all four wells with chrome trim are not under one glass, but are placed separately, but next to each other.
Inside there is also a comfortable armrest, next to which there are two cup holders. It should be noted that the finishing materials here are very wear-resistant, and the build quality of the cabin is very high quality. The steering wheel and the front driver's seat have a lot of adjustments, which makes it possible for the driver to adjust the seat as much as possible for his height and anatomical features.
Specifications
“Dodge Magnum” (a photo of its engine compartment can be seen on the left) has a diverse line of powertrains. Among them, 3 petrol units were present in the domestic market. The youngest six-cylinder engine with a volume of 2.7 liters develops up to 193 horsepower. The average, also six-cylinder unit, has a capacity of 254 “horses” (and this with a working volume of 3.5 liters). The "senior" eight-cylinder engine is the most powerful in the lineup, since with its volume of 5.7 liters it is able to develop a power of 345 horsepower.
All three units are equipped with a single automatic transmission, but even the presence of only one “automatic machine” did not affect the dynamic characteristics of the station wagon. For example, an eight-cylinder engine can accelerate the Dodge to “hundreds” in just 6.3 seconds.
SRT-8 Version
A few years later, in 2005, Detroit engineers presented to the public a charged version of the Magnum, which was identified by the SRT-8 code. This car was equipped with a 6.1-liter engine with a capacity of 425 horsepower. In addition, the machine was aggregated with an increased pressure compressor. This modernization of the engine made it possible to develop the “hundred” in just 5.0 seconds.
Dodge Magnum: price
Unfortunately, the mass production of the American wagon Magnum was discontinued in 2008.
You can buy a Dodge only in the domestic market. In Russia, this car costs about 550-800 thousand rubles, depending on the year of manufacture, equipment and general technical condition. Sometimes the price reaches one million rubles, but this is usually the top configuration. By the way, already in the "base" there is an on-board computer, a proprietary audio recorder and a modern security system.
