The political life of society. Concept. Forms. Functions

An independent state that has embarked on the path of democratic development determines its main priority as a person, his rights and freedoms, which are enshrined in the Basic Law (Constitution). But sometimes the political life in society is so boiling that they forget about the main priorities.

Being a part of the disciplines of political science, sociology and political psychology, political life can be considered both in a broad sense and in a narrow one.

In a broad sense, the political life of society is a set of processes and phenomena in society that affect the general political situation. In a narrow sense, political life is a way of interaction between subjects of political life, which include citizens, public organizations and political parties, bodies of state legislative and executive power.

The main tools for the interaction of subjects of political life are the legislative and executive branches.

Political life in modern society is very rich and diverse, which is provoked by a huge number of political institutions that focus on various political actions. Also of great importance here is the complex motivational structure of modern people: having different and diverging value orientations, preferences and interests, their political behavior becomes diverse.

In its form, political life can be calm and eventful.

A calm political life is characterized by the stable functioning of political institutions, maintaining the integrity of society and political stability. An established political system conservatively affects the participants in political relations, which prevents its modernization in the context of world progress.

A busy political life is characterized by a turning point in relations established in society, entailing public protest, riots and, as a rule, the formation of new political institutions. A turning point in an established political society has a positive effect on the introduction of new, modern technologies, and contributes to the growth of political culture and democracy.

Political life is a combination of interests of various segments of the population, the activities of public organizations and political parties, and movements of socio-political groups.

Political life is diverse and multifaceted, so it can be classified according to several characterizing signs:

- by field of activity: social, cultural, economic, national, military;

- by scale: regional, local, world, international;

- by area: foreign and domestic policy.

The main political function of society in political life is the direct formation of public authorities through elections and referenda. The difference between the referendum and elections is that the first is designed to determine the will of the people, and the second is the direct expression of the will of citizens.

Politics and society are closely interconnected by their nature of occurrence. The political life of each individual society is distinguished by its dynamism, diversity, and complexity of phenomena that develop in the social space, including political relations. We list its main functions: redistributing public goods, expressing the interests of all social strata, maintaining the unity and integrity of society, harmonizing interests, and mobilizing functions.

It should also be noted that the relationship between politics and society is not so simple and straightforward. At the slightest deviation from the set course, the government is able to demonstrate its powerlessness, which in the end can lead to social instability, conflicts and the destruction of society.
