Only a few car owners refuse to tint the car. There are good explanations for this. The tinted windows in the summer protect from excessive heating of the passenger compartment, which significantly reduces the load on the air conditioner and, therefore, facilitates the operation of the engine. In addition, tinting does not transmit ultraviolet rays, so the interior trim does not fade. On the windshield covered with a dark film, glare does not appear, and this reduces the likelihood of an accident. In addition, tinting does not allow you to consider what is in the car, and therefore, to some extent, protects from the increased attention of car thieves specializing in theft of valuables left in the cabin.
In addition to its useful properties, tinting has aesthetic qualities, it gives the car a more respectable appearance. But only if it is glued correctly and there are no bulges, scratches and other defects on it.
Unfortunately, over time, the appearance of tinting worsens, and then it has to be changed. To do this, you must first get rid of the old film covering the glass. Not everyone knows how to remove the tint, so motorists often turn to specialized workshops for help. But the process of casting is so simple that you can cope with it yourself, without overpaying the extra money.
Let's consider in stages how to remove tinting yourself.
First, the glass from which you plan to remove the film, it is advisable to warm up. In this case, the glue will become softer, and tinting will be much easier to separate from the glass. You can use a regular hair dryer to warm up. Without bringing it too close to the surface, to avoid overheating, evenly heat the glass before removing the tint yourself. Avoid heating plastic trim parts.
Then you should lower the window to about half, if it comes to the side windows of the car. So it will be much easier to separate the upper edge of the film from the surface of the glass. It is better to separate the edge of the tint with a sharp knife.
Further, there are two ways to remove the tinted glass of a car. The first involves the removal of the tint film in one sharp movement. To do this, hold the upper edge of the film with both hands and pull it down with force. Following the second method, tinting is removed gradually. With one hand you need to slowly pull the film towards yourself, and with the other, carefully separate the glue from the glass with a sharp thin knife or blade.
But in the first and second cases, traces of glue will most likely remain on the glass. So before you remove the tint yourself, prepare everything you need in order to then completely clean the glass from traces of glue. A sharp clerical knife can help you with this , with which you can scrape off the remnants of glue from the glasses. But after the knife on the glass there may be scratches, so it is better to use special solvents designed to clean the glass after tinting. They can be purchased at any car shop. For the same purpose, undiluted medical alcohol is suitable.
If there is not much glue left on the glass, then it can be removed using a conventional dishwashing detergent diluted in warm water. It is necessary to moisten the glass with this solution and thoroughly wipe it with a soft cloth.
By removing the tint on your own, you will save about 1000 rubles. That is how much this service costs in auto repair shops. But in order to tint the heated rear window, it is better to consult a specialist. Even knowing how to remove the tint yourself, you can damage the glass heating threads and accordingly disable it.
