The architectural monument of Moscow is recognized as the Church of the Resurrection of Christ on "Semenovskaya" (metro station). The building of the cathedral was erected in 1855 in the territory of the Semenovsky cemetery. In the same year, July 17, he was consecrated by the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Filaret. The temple is open to parishioners to this day.
General information
Under the clear guidance of the merchant Mushnikov, the Church of the Resurrection of Christ was erected (on "Semenovskaya"). Photos, which depicted the cathedral in its original form, have not been preserved. However, despite the significant destruction of the temple at the beginning of the 20th century, as well as the operation of the cult building as a repair plant, its appearance has not changed much.
In the middle of the 20th century, the Semenov cemetery was completely destroyed. On the site of the former graveyard, a square is broken. Revive the Church of the Resurrection of Christ on the "Semenov" began only in 1996, when the religious building was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church. Restoration work and reconstruction began only in 2000. From the former beauty of the cathedral, 2 murals remained, however, due to the fragility and a large percentage of destruction, the evidence of the 19th century could not be preserved. It was decided on a new painting of the temple, which was successfully completed in 2006.
The pristine appearance was recreated through donations from parishioners. Most of the territory that belonged to the church before the revolution was returned to patriarchal possessions.

Sunday School of the Cathedral
The Church of the Resurrection of Christ on "Semenovskaya" is engaged in educational activities that allow parishioners to understand the essence of the Orthodox faith. Children from 6 to 13 years old can attend classes. The entire educational process at Sunday school takes place in a type of dialogue. This allows children not only to learn the theoretical basis of Orthodoxy, but also to ask all questions of practical interest.
For the convenience of conducting classes on the territory of the Sunday school, a library is organized, there is a wide video library. The program of studies includes studying the Law of God, the New Testament, the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as the technique of chanting.
