Samara State Academy of Arts and Culture is a training organization that existed in Samara and worked in the field of higher education. Now it also functions, but under a slightly different name. The documents indicate that the university is an institution. However, many still call it the academy, because for ordinary people there is no difference between the two statuses.

Historical information

In 1971, the USSR Council of Ministers issued a decree on the creation of a higher educational institution in Kuibyshev (the modern name is Samara) to train personnel for the cultural sphere. Since this year, the institute began to function in the city. The first rector of the university was V.O. Morozov. He did not hold this position for long. Under his leadership, the university developed 4 years.

The second rector was I. M. Kuzmin. Since 1993, M. G. Vokhrysheva became the rector. In 1996, the university was transformed into an academy. In 2009, E. A. Kurulenko came to the post of rector. She used to be a teacher at one of the departments of this university. In 2014, a transformation took place in the history of the institution. The educational organization was returned to its former status as an institute.

In the educational organization at the moment there are 4 structural units involved in teaching students in certain specialties. These are the faculties, a list of which is presented below:

This faculty is one of the youngest units in the Samara Academy. It was founded in 2010 as a result of the partial integration of the instrumental and orchestral department and the department of cultural and social technologies and the full inclusion of the faculty of art.

  • folk art culture (management of an amateur dance group or arts and crafts studio);
