Surely many car owners had to scratch their cars. And although the consequences of such an accident are sometimes insignificant for the internal structure of the car, the dent or scratch on the paintwork is very noticeable. Some drivers do not attach much importance to this and continue to ride on a rumpled car. However, what will happen if you look at the vehicle from an aesthetic point of view?
When you look at the appearance of a beaten and scratched car, you immediately get a negative impression of its owner. A well-kept car is the
calling card of its owner. Therefore, you need to take care of its appearance. In this article, we will look at how to repair a body with your own hands.
Paint selection
If there is only a scratch on the surface of the machine, to fix it we need only have the appropriate paint and primer. However, if the metal itself was damaged in the design, we purchase an additional putty (but we will talk about it a little later) and apply it to the body. Do-it-yourself repair of the paintwork with the use of so-called “pencils to eliminate deformations” is useless. The fact is that with this tool you can only partially hide visible defects, since the thickness of the coating does not always correspond to the depth of the scratch gap. You need to choose the paint very carefully. Never pick up bottles at random. Even if the color is the same, the shade can vary greatly. The paint number must be fully consistent with that which the manufacturer applied to the body.
Do it yourself repair: putty, primer and paint
As for the primer, it can be of two types - for paintwork and for metal. The use of a particular type depends on the degree of damage. If after an accident a dent is formed on the body, in this case you can’t do without putty. First, we need to degrease the surface and sand it with sandpaper. Then prepare the putty and apply it to the damaged body. DIY repair, of course, does not end there, and while the applied material dries, we quickly smooth out its surface. After the putty dries, the dent will not be so noticeable, however, to achieve the desired result, it is necessary to go over it again with sandpaper. Then you can primer the body. Do-it-yourself repairs should be carried out using the second type of aerosol: even if your car is of domestic manufacture, the primer must be imported. We apply it in one layer and proceed to painting the body. The material must be applied in three layers in order to completely mask microcracks. For extra shine, you can varnish the surface. Below is a photo of a car that suffered in a minor accident.

On the left is a photograph before puttying and painting, on the right - after. The result is impressive, isn't it? And this despite the fact that the body was repaired with their own hands, without the help of specialists. So it will be with you, if you follow all the above instructions.
