Music accompanied humanity at all stages of its development. It helps to relax, overcome depression, tune in the right way.
One of the most common genres today is rock. And although it is much inferior in popularity to such styles as pop, rap and chanson (because of which heavy music is often referred not to mass, but to an elite culture), lovers of guitar riffs continue to attend live concerts, wear bold clothes and listen to every day favorite music.
An important role in the development of the genre in the literal and figurative senses was played by American rock bands. The most famous of them will be listed below.

- In 1965, the whole world literally exploded when the performances of The Doors began to be broadcast on radio and television. Their style is psychedelic mixed with blues and acid rock. Young people, future rock stars, were born and raised in Los Angeles. In the 60s, their work had a tremendous impact on the entire American culture. Jim Morrison - the notorious vocalist of the group - died of (according to one version) a heart attack in 1971. Since then, The Doors have become even more popular. They are listening today. Many American rock bands are part-time students of the great The Doors.
- Almost everyone has heard about the Nirvana group today. Many popular American rock bands formed under the influence of the creativity of this team. The beginning of their work - 1987. They played in grunge style and released 3 studio and 3 live albums, as well as 4 collections. Some of them came out after the death of vocalist Kurt Cobain. In 1994, he was found dead in his own house. It is still unknown about whether he laid hands on himself or someone “helped” him, but many facts speak in favor of the second option.
Rock is a loose concept. It includes hundreds of subgenres. It can be calm lyrical melodies, or maybe reckless, “meat” (as fans say) tracks.
The latter is the prerogative of metal. American rock bands were among the first to start promoting heavy music, so to speak, to the masses.
When there was no Internet yet (yes, there were no CDs either), many young people exchanged cassettes with their favorite music. In the 80s, in absolute favor, the majority had thrash metal legends - the Metallica group. It was formed in 1981. Their composition has repeatedly changed, but this did not affect creativity, and they continue to release albums and give concerts to this day. Metallica is part of the so-called Big Four along with giants such as Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.
By the way, all four groups are American. In their sounding there are quite a few similarities, but at the same time their creativity varies significantly. Kreator also plays in the style of thrash metal. Despite the fact that she was formed in Germany, many attribute her style to the American school, as the guys sing in English, and their sound is more characteristic of groups formed in the USA.
And here is another “metal”, but slightly less well-known group than the above. This is Type O Negative from Brooklyn. Their music is heavy, but lyrical. They played since 1989 in the style of Gothic and doom metal. In 2010, the group was forced to cease its activities in connection with the death of permanent vocalist Peter Steel. Type O Negative released 7 studio albums.
