Any car requires improvement and refinement, especially if it is produced at the ZAZ plant. Tuning ZAZ-1102 "Tavria" is a refinement of the famous Ukrainian car, which received the status of a nationwide. Low cost, ease of repair and maintenance made it affordable even for people with low wages. But sadly, what price is such quality, so many motorists do the Tavria tuning with their own hands.
Exterior body kits
On the outside, almost all tuning parts are made manually and on their own. With the launch of ZAZ-1103, many domestic manufacturers of parts began to produce lightweight body kits, but they did not give aerodynamic qualities. Therefore, tuning Tavria with their own hands has become more relevant.
The first step is the completion of the front and rear bumpers. As the material, plastic, fiberglass and automotive plasticine can be used, which are easy to process, and after taking the form hold it well.
The side sills are made of plastic or sheet metal, aluminum remains the best for production. Wheel arch extensions can be made of the same material, but mounting foam is usually used here, which is then puttied and painted.
A rear window spoiler for the Tavria brand can be installed on the tailgate. A tuning version of the part can be purchased in the automotive markets or in specialized stores.
Alternative optics for ZAZ-1102 is not made. But motorists found a way out: installing cheap Chinese xenon in standard lenses - this is also tuning. "Tavria", the photo of which is presented in the article, with the introduction of LED technology on the market from motorists began to receive regular headlights with the addition of running lights in them.
Painting and airbrushing
Another option for modernization and improvement is painting in metallic or nacre, as well as airbrushing. At the same time, Tavria, which tuning is not always cost-effective, becomes colorful and stands out among other cars.
In Ukraine, it is rare to find ZAZ-1102 in the author's painting or with drawings. Such cars are often presented as collectibles at various exhibitions and tuning forums.
Interior tuning
Since the price of a car is about 1000-2000 dollars, for “ZAZ Tavria” interior tuning becomes unprofitable, since you can invest the same amount of money into the material itself. Motorists found a way out easier. Instead of the standard seats are installed from the "Opel Vectra B". They ideally fit on standard mounts, and their cost in the automotive market is negligible.
Tuning salon "Tavria" does not end on one replacement seats. Upholstery and carpeting are replaced with a carpet, the color of which is chosen by the owner. The instrument panel is sheathed with a color self-adhesive film, which is produced by the Kharkov Polyethylene Plant. The backlight of the instrument cluster is replaced by soldering LEDs into a digital circuit.
Engine tuning
For the Ukrainian Tavria car, engine tuning exists in two versions:
- Complete replacement of ICE and gearbox with a motor from a VAZ-2106 or 2108.
- Refinement of the piston group and injection.
The first option for many is quite familiar: the old MeMZ-245 motor is removed and a new one is installed. At the same time, many parts will have to be replaced along the way, from the mounting pads to the fuel system refinement and cooling elements.
The second option is also not quite simple, as it seems at first glance. The engine will have to be dismantled and re-honed for new pistons. Usually, instead of the standard ones, lightweight from the manufacturer ATI (Poland) with a diameter of 75 mm are installed.
The chamfer of the intake and exhaust valves of the Tavria automobile, tuning of which is done only on a special machine, is reduced by 0.4 mm, which makes it possible to inject fuel into the combustion chamber earlier. Also, to add power, you can install two Solex carburetors. But it is worth considering that the consumption will increase by 50% from the standard.
The last option to add power is the installation of a kit-kit exhaust system. This is an expensive pleasure, and therefore the owners of the Ukrainian Tavria car do not carry out tuning of this system. The only thing that remains affordable is the muffler nozzle, whose assortment is huge.
Chassis Tuning
Tuning the chassis of the Tavria can be carried out in a total or partial way. So, first of all, hubs, wheels and tires are replaced. Next, you can install new springs and shock absorbers. For lovers of reduced clearance, they will have to cut them by 2 cm.
Of course, you can buy a full set of running gear, which is represented by the Ukrainian manufacturer Bogdan, but in terms of pricing it’s an exorbitant cost that does not justify investments. Therefore, some elements of the VAZ suspension are often installed, which makes Tavria more stable on the road surface.
Brake adaptation
An integral part of the modernization of the chassis remains the adaptation of the brake system to the standard of the Tavria automobile. Tuning the brakes becomes an indispensable part of the refinement, since this system from the factory is not entirely reliable.
To increase the efficiency of the brake system, it is necessary to replace the front and rear brake drums, pads, as well as the parking brake. You can not stop here and install a shortened set of Brembo brake pipes, but you will also have to replace the brake cylinders, which will be difficult to pick up for this car.
Of course, Tavria tuning is a noble impulse, but often the money invested in such a car does not justify itself. Therefore, before you start upgrading the ZAZ-1102, you should think carefully.
