Main characteristics

Putty “Rotband finish” is a dry mixture based on gypsum, which includes polymer additives. It is packaged in dense paper bags, the standard weight of which is 20 or 25 kg.

Before you buy a putty, you should pay attention to the date of its manufacture. This material has a shelf life of only six months. In case of packaging damage, the mixture should be used as soon as possible.

The minimum thickness of the applied layer of gypsum putty "Rotband finish" (25 or 20 kg) is 0.2 mm, the maximum allowable is 5 mm. The average material consumption is 0.9–1.1 kg / m 2 .

This mixture can have different colors and shades: white, pink, gray. This is due to the presence of natural additives in the composition of gypsum rocks. But at the same time, all mixtures have all the quality characteristics declared by the manufacturer.

disadvantages

Putty "Rotband finish" has some disadvantages:

  1. High price.
  2. The finished solution thickens quickly enough, so it can be inconvenient when working on large areas.

How to work and solution

In order to knead and apply the Rotband Finish putty solution, the following materials and tools will be required:

  • container for kneading (you can use a regular bucket);
  • construction mixer;
  • spatulas of different sizes and shapes (depending on the object).
  • grinding materials (grater or sandpaper).

Before kneading the putty, preparatory work is carried out. The surface is cleaned of dust, dirt, protruding foreign objects. After that, all metal parts are treated with an anti-corrosion solution. Then the surface is treated with a soil solution. Different types of primers are used for each type of surface.

The temperature of the working surface before starting work must be at least 5 ° C.

When all the preparatory work is completed, the mixture is kneaded. It is recommended to prepare the solution in not very large portions. So it is easier to mix, in addition, it will not dry out in a bucket.

The putty is poured into a mixing container and filled with clean water from the following calculation: 0.7 l of water is needed per 1 kg of this material. According to the instructions, a bag of 20 kg needs 13.5 liters of water. A bag of 25 kg is poured with 16.5 liters of water.

After pouring water, the putty is mixed well. First, this is done manually, then using a mixer operating at reduced speeds.

Stir until a homogeneous consistency similar to sour cream is obtained. The temperature in the room should be 10–25 ° . If this rule is not observed, cracks will begin to form on the surface after drying. Foreign additives or mixtures cannot be added to the solution. Thickened or dried up is also prohibited. You can use the finished solution for no more than 1.5 hours from the moment of mixing. Work is done only with clean spatulas. Putty is applied to the surface, then leveled to the desired thickness. Leveling the solution is carried out with a spatula or with the help of the Swiss falcon and the rule. After work, the tools must be washed.

Putty solution should dry in the absence of drafts and preferably in the dark.

Unused open bag must be stored on a pallet in a dry room for no more than six months.

Conclusion

Putty "Rotband finish" is a leader in sales in the CIS. Today it can be purchased in almost every hardware store.

Choosing this environmentally friendly and safe material, the buyer gets an almost perfect result after drying: a smooth surface and the absence of cracks.

Due to the fact that the putty dries very quickly, it is possible to significantly reduce the time for repair work.
