A bit of history

In ancient times, the village of Spasskoye-Lukino was located in these places. Since that time, some monuments of culture and architecture of great historical significance have miraculously survived. One of such priceless monuments is the Transfiguration Church.

In the XVII century, the temple in Peredelkino (Spasskoye-Lukino) began to be surrounded by peasant huts. Soon this place was called Alteration. The village of Lukino became the center of the patrimony.

The Church of the Transfiguration of Our Savior was first mentioned in 1646. By the beginning of the 18th century, the documents already described two churches - including the Spasskaya church.

Moscow Peredelkino

The wooden Spassky church in Peredelkino had a stone church attached to it, which was consecrated in the name of Dmitry Rostovsky.

At the beginning of the XIX century, many settlements near Moscow were significantly affected by the barbaric ruin of the French. In Lukin, a fire destroyed many peasant households and a manor house. The same fate befell Izmalkovo. It remains a mystery why the French spared the temple in Peredelkino. Despite the fact that part of the property was stolen, the most valuable relics were preserved, thanks to the rector John Yakovlev, who managed to bury the main relics in the ground.

In 1815, the stone Transfiguration Church was built in the village . This building is considered a vivid example of classicism.

When the estate began to belong to Bode-Kolychev, the appearance of the structure changed. Artistic elements of temple art of the 17th century appeared on the building. From that building to our time, the keel-shaped portal, the royal gates and the iconostasis of the 17th century “survived”. Wall painting, choirs date back to 1950.

After the Revolution, the shrine (oddly enough) was not destroyed. In 1924 they were planning to close the temple, an appropriate decision had already been made, but for some reason they did not.

Residence of the patriarch

In 1952, a grand event took place in Peredelkino. This historical place became the official residence of the Patriarch of All Russia, who, I must say, fell in love with this place with all his heart. The creation of the residence of the Patriarch seemed to breathe new life in Peredelkino. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord was renovated. Not far from it appeared a cemetery. Here many famous people found eternal peace - clergy, writers (K. Chukovsky, B. Pasternak and others).

Church of Igor Chernigov in Peredelkino

This wonderful idea of building a church near the Patriarchal residence is a merit of Patriarch Alexy II. He approved the original project in 2005 and decided to consecrate the church in the name of Prince Igor of Chernigov and Kiev. Alexy II personally chose the best place and blessed the beginning of the construction of the temple.

After four years of hard work by the best masters, our capital, magnificent Moscow, received a new temple. Peredelkino was decorated with an exquisite temple-tower, which combines elements of many styles of Russian architecture.

Porcelain chapters of different colors are crowned with crosses of huge sizes. The facades decorated with bright saturated majolica give a feeling of joy. The temple rises on a hillock, and its original form, freshness and unusual architectural solutions invariably attract the eyes of guests.

Moscow Peredelkino

Many historical monuments are famous for Moscow. Peredelkino is now rightfully proud of the temple built in our time. Its interior is unusual in artistic decision and in form. It gives an unusual feeling of openness and spaciousness, lightness and breadth, fullness of joy and light.

The semantic center of the temple in Peredelkino, as, however, in all Orthodox churches is a snow-white ceramic iconostasis with gilding. With it, the icon cases perfectly harmonize with images made in the same style. Belts of an ornament visually divide walls into sectors, emphasizing their whiteness, and adding a touch of fabulousness.

In January 2010, His Holiness the Patriarch consecrated the stone laid in the foundation of the church in Peredelkino.

Temple device

The church is designed for 1200 parishioners. Just like the Cathedral Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the cathedral in Peredelkino has a stylobate and basement.

The authors who designed the porcelain domes for a long time searched for a solution to the seemingly insoluble problem - how to create original church mock-ups that would be radically different from others and at the same time would be reliable and durable.

The central dome of the temple has a diameter of 10 meters. Its main color is bright blue, which goes well with other paints.

The park and garden ensemble adjoins the temple, with some miraculously surviving part of an old building and an obelisk dedicated to famous personalities from the noble family of the Kolychevs, to which Philip, the primate of the Orthodox Church of Russia in the 16th century, belonged.

This is one of the most revered and beloved saints in our country. The descendants of the saint, Kolychevs, made their own estate and temple a place of worship in memory of this Holy saint.

The magnificent temple in Peredelkino is a vivid example of modern temple architecture. The work of many people who designed and built this temple, invested their talent, soul, prayers, strength and knowledge in this holy work was appreciated by ordinary believers and clergy. Today, the temple in Peredelkino, picturesquely rushing with majestic domes upwards, attracts the attention and hearts of Christians with its beauty.
