The year 2016 was marked by an important event for the automotive community: the Japanese concern Nissan is launching a new top version of the Serena, a full-size compact minivan, on the market. The first generation of the car appeared in 1990, and since 1992 it began to be produced in Spain.
Interior
Among all station wagons of increased capacity, the Nissan Serena C26 is considered the most compact. The length of its body is 4315 millimeters, height - 1840 millimeters, width - 1710 millimeters. A fairly spacious interior allows you to place two seats in the front and two not very comfortable and wide sofas in the back. On the right side of the middle sofa there is a folding chair. This arrangement of the internal space allows for relative convenience to accommodate eight people.
It is worth noting that the luggage compartment as such is absent in the Nissan Serena: for the transportation of goods, you can free up from 350 to 700 liters of space, depending on the selected seat layout.
The interior itself is quite concise and ergonomic. The design of the driver’s seat seems primitive at first glance, the seat itself rotates 180 degrees and has only two mechanical adjustments. The front panel is pleasantly rounded in shape, the rather large selector of the automatic transmission constantly reminds itself. The steering wheel is equipped with a hydraulic booster and does not require much effort: you can turn it literally with one finger. The steering column adjustment is carried out according to the angle of inclination. Large rear-view mirrors provide a good level of vision.
It was equipped with a minivan and air conditioning, despite the fact that two sunroofs and three completely lowering windows make it easy to manage without a hot summer. A large amount of free space in the cabin provides a convenient location for second-row passengers. Climbing onto the third folding row of seats is not particularly convenient, even taking into account the fact that the right-most seat of the second row is completely folding: adult passengers have no place to place their legs, respectively, only children can comfortably accommodate them. Unlike other competitors, the middle row of Nissan Serena seats cannot be turned into a table when folding.
Specifications
It is equipped with Nissan Serena gasoline engines with electronic injection system and a displacement of 1.6 and 2 liters with a capacity of 97 and 126 horsepower, respectively. The range of powertrains also includes a 66-horsepower two-liter diesel CD20T. In 1995, Nissan expanded the range of engines by adding a 2.3-liter diesel engine with 135 horsepower. Despite the fact that the CD20T does not belong to the category of reliable engines, with a timely oil change, it will be able to serve for quite a long time without problems with compression, power and economy.
All engines are equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. As an additional option, an automatic transmission is offered, which is most often found in the all-wheel drive version of the Nissan Serena. Depending on the selected configuration, the maximum speed of the minivan varies from 135 to 170 km / h.

The minivan itself is quite unpretentious and, despite its dimensions, is characterized by amazing dynamism, maneuverability and directional stability. Additional advantages are the information content of devices and ergonomics of the cabin.
Minivan disadvantages
Factory malfunctions occurring in the first months of operation of the Nissan Serena are considered to be malfunctions with the air flow control sensor, failure of the variator and silent blocks and quick wear of the starter brushes. Owners of the Japanese minivan quite often complain about the average soundproofing of the cabin, the lack of stiffness of the rear suspension and the average acceleration dynamics, despite the excellent overall dynamics of the Serena.
